I had a prolapse after having ds (10lb 6oz) and saw the physio for a while but it seemed to go eventually- although tampons have been uncomfortable. I'm now 15wks pg and it seems to have returned - it's horrible!! Does anyone know if pfe really work? I can't remember how often your'e supposed to do them. Would another vaginal delivery with another big baby make it worse? Any experiences of this welcome....X

I like to think of myself as an expert (have one myself) will be back on in the morning.

PFE's won't necessarily improve your prolapse but they can prevent further damage - if the prolapse is just your womb, then PFEs might stop your bowel / bladder following suit

I think a vaginal delivery can make it worse yes, it can damage the ligaments in the vaginal wall that hold the pelvic floor

Listen to Suwoo, she is soooo the expert

Sorry...I am here now. I can only speak from my personal experience though How can I help?

suwoo · 04/12/2007 21:54

Well in your absence I will answer your questions from my perspective. Firstly, I must say, I don't know how yours has 'gone away' I wish mine would!! Mine was due to largish baby 9lb and stretchy fascia mainly. I was only 26 and a healthy weight. When I had DS 5 years later, I had an elective section on the guidance of my gynae consultant who is wonderful and I see every 6 months. The pergnancy has not seemed to adversely affect the prolapse and obviously the mode of delivery hasn't either. They are keen for me to have a repair but I am holding off as it is managed quite well with my giant ring pessary which stays in permanently. HTH, give me a shout if you need anything else.

Thanks suwoo, my prolapse probably wasn't too bad as it only 'appeared' towards the end of the day when my muscles had weakened (according to the physio). But now I'm pg again it's there virtually all day and gets worse if I've been stood up all day at work. So what I want to know really is am I stuck with this now unless I have a repair? Why have you been avoiding the op? Is it a painful procedure? I've got an ante-natal appointment next week and I'll obviously discuss it then but I want to be prepared!
