Norovirus 33 weeks- how long before seeking help?

I don't want to go TMI but I seem to have get norovirus or similar, started at about 7am today. Have tried to let it ride out but I'm still being sick now and not keeping much water down, not helped by my indigestion. I must be getting a bit in as I'm weeing a bit.

At what point do I give in and call triage/111? I don't feel fit to travel in all honesty but it's my fluid intake that's troubling me. Baby has been moving all day fine but obviously would react straight away to any change there.

Seems a stupid question, sorry!

Call triage and ask - they can reassure you either way. I should have phoned them when my HG started and I was vomiting like I had norovirus. If they’re not worried they’ll tell you and if they are worried they’ll do something about it. Hope you’re feeling better soon Flowers

Not a stupid question at all OP. I had gastroenteritis at 28 weeks and couldn't keep any water down so ended up being admitted for IV fluids. I would definitely ring triage/maternity assessment unit and explain. Really highlight how little water you can keep down. Does your heart rate feel fast at all? That is a sign of dehydration.

As PP worth ringing to discuss with them. I would flag up now so you don't feel worse overnight. Glad baby's movements are OK. Hope you feel better soon x

Definitely call triage and ask for advice.

I had horrific HG where I could keep water down. They should be able to check your hydration levels with a urine dip test. I wasn't up to going to get the test in person but they let my DH drop off a pot of urine for them to test and then called me back if I need to go in.

Call them.

I didn’t go in when I had a bad sickness bug, much earlier in pregnancy that you are. I spoke to midwife on phone and said I’d go over to the hospital if I was struggling to keep water down - but I didn’t go as I decided I was okay and could ride it out at home.

I went on to have a blood clots in my lungs a couple of weeks later - I can’t remember the precise timeline but I know drs were confident the clotting starting when I was ill with the bug.

They said if I’d gone into hospital for fluids then I’d automatically have been given a dose of blood thinner at the same time because if being pregnant.

It all turned out okay for me, and the pregnancy luckily but I had no idea that was even a risk to consider.

Thanks all. I got a bit worried about movements later on in the day and was still struggling with fluids so we called triage and went in for some monitoring and a drip, glad we did although glad to have got home now too!

Never got to the bottom of what it was but they did say they'd had a few ladies in later on with the same sort of thing, everyone else in the house ok but the pregnant one 🤷‍♀️ wasn't covid at least!

Glad you feel better @8dpwoah. Wonders of a drip eh! As you say, not nicest thing but at least you've both been checked out and feeling reassured
