Don't know how to tell partner I'm pregnant

With baby number 3, complete shock...only tested because I feel a bit weird! We've used pull out for the duration of our relationship (12 years) and only ever got pregnant when we were trying. We were done with 2. I don't know how he will take it, yes we should have done something safer but both naively thought it was near impossible to get pregnant this way and given how long we went with any accidents....I feel so stupid now and don't want to tell him!

Well it's not just YOUR fault. He is responsible too so don't be scared to tell him. Good luck!

Do you want to have the baby? If so you need to tell him. If not then it’s your decision if you tell him or not. I don’t understand why you’re scared to tell him, it took two of you and as you said you both thought it was near impossible which means you both knew it was possible.

The more you think think about it and sit on it the harder it's going to be.
So my advise is just to get it out there.

I get your point bluntness...I acknowledge it's not impossible to get pregnant this way but like I said naively thought It wouldn't happen/risk was low..of course there's always a low risk...even with condoms. I don't deny I've been an idiot but it will still come as a shock to him because we've never slipped up before 😫 I'm stressed about telling him because I can't gage what his reaction will be X

He can't be annoyed/angry etc;the pull out method is risky;the penis leaks small amounts of ejaculate during sex;one sperm is all that's needed.

If you he definitely doesn't want more he should get the snip.

So the question now is;are you going ahead with the pregnancy?

If not the earlier it's dealt with the better especially for yourself;please don't feel guilty if that's what you decide to do;life isn't always black and white.

Abortion isn't an option for me, I'm going to tell him ...I just don't know when or how 😱 x

If you’re having unprotected sex then pregnancy was always a possibility. Just tell him. And sort out some proper contraception Flowers

Bluntness100 · 28/08/2021 16:25

Well you know the risk exists, low risk doesn’t mean no risk.

Op are you scared of him?is there something else going on here?

Ingloriousbasterd · 28/08/2021 16:31

No theres nothing else going on, he's just going to be very shocked...as am I! Our 2 DC are both in school, we have jobs ...life has settled from the baby days

Then you’re just going to have to tell him, you’re both adults, you both knew there was a risk you both chose to take it for some unknown reason,

Garman · 28/08/2021 16:35

Well he was as much responsible as you so what's the big deal?

Driftingblue · 28/08/2021 16:37

The two of you have basically been ttc. He doesn’t have to jump for joy the second you tell him, but his only real option without blowing up his entire life is to adapt. So just tell him.

Once the shock dies down for both of you, it’s time to have the vasectomy conversation.

I know everyone's situation is different but If it's any conciliation, I've just had a "surprise" baby with a 9 year age gap. Absolutely the best thing I've ever done. He's slotted right in and is adored by his siblings.

These things have a way of working out for the best. Good luck
