Holiday in early pregnancy

My fertile days next month are around 2 weeks before we go on holiday. We're doing a bit of travelling in the UK and visiting a couple of theme parks along the way.

I'm definitely not pregnant at the moment. Do we wait until after the holiday before TTC? Are there risks going on rollercoasters a 1/2 weeks pregnant if I was to be lucky next month? Is it safer to skip a month TTC and start again after the holiday?

No of course not. Where on earth have you got that idea OP? Absolute madness to put things on hold to that extent unless you’re doing an ivf transfer or something.

No, typical pregnancy, no IVF or anything like that.
Anxiety shrugs.
I've read rollercoasters are dangerous during pregnancy and was just wondering if that included as early as 1/2 weeks.

You'll definitely be fine to carry on as usual. I didn't even find out I was pregnant until about 10 weeks and had been to a theme park (just a kiddy one but still) and drinking a fair amount. No problems.

I did wonder if you had anxiety. Would be worth mentioning that to your midwife when pregnant or you’ll drive yourself mad. Or even seeking some help while you try. Pregnancy can be pretty anxiety inducing even if you don’t suffer with anxiety.

I have two children already (they're 11 and 9 now though) and I saw a consultant through my second pregnancy to check up on my mental health. I'm in a much better place now and actually have a support network around me this time but yea, anxiety is always there to some extent!
I rarely drink, don't smoke, reduced and changed medications to safe ones with the support of my GP.
We're going to Legoland and Chessington, so not exactly thrill rides other than maybe the Vampire at Chessington and I don't don't do the sudden drop rides pukes.

Just carry on living (but lay off alcohol of course) you may not conceive straightaway anyway

Bells3032 · 25/08/2021 11:39

Not really dangerous at that point. only really once you get a bump and the bars may not fit or could result in being hit in the stomach etc

There are suggestions that stop/starting and jarring motions can potentially cause placental abruption but I couldn't find any information about that for super early pregnancy.

I think anything can potentially cause anything OP if you go fishing for an article to link it. It doesn’t mean it’s backed scientifically or true. At that stage of pregnancy what, realistically, could happen? You can’t find info on that because it just isn’t something that can happen.

Cornishmumofone · 25/08/2021 17:54

You won't hear about placental abruptions in really early pregnancy as you won't have a placenta at that stage!

The first time I got pregnant I did everything right, stopped playing netball etc. Had a MC at 6 weeks.

The second time I got pregnant I decided what will be will be and went to Centre Parcs and went on the rapids and the flumes and also some small zip wires. DS is now 2.5 and running round the house naked.

At 6 weeks the embryo is the size of a poppy seed and very well cushioned. I think you'd be fine at a theme park - but if you're always going to question yourself then maybe it's worth not going to the theme park?
