Hi everyone,

So basically what the title of the thread is... I had a miscarriage last year at 5wks+6 and I'm nervous incase this happens again... I've not got a scan until the 21st of October and my midwife appointment in September is a video call due to NHS in Scotland working weird.

Does anyone have any advice for me to help these feelings of anxiety?

My advice is not to read things online, they make anxiety so much worse, hopefully all is ok for you, but if you read things it convinced you something is wrong and alot of times it isn't. Just take each day as it comes

Where are you in Scotland? My midwife was face to face in Glasgow.

There really is no easy way to deal with anxiety unfortunately. I'm almost 9 weeks and I've had an early scan and seen baby with heartbeat. I've had 2 miscarriages this year and my first was at 10 weeks after seeing baby with heartbeat so honestly, not much is helping in terms of reassurance. All I can recommend is taking each day as it comes. Wishing you lots of luck ❤

@Alltimeblow I'm in Greenock, and it's Inverclyde Royal that will be where my maternity care is based. Was really confused when they told me my first appointment is through a screen - they've even asked me to download BadgerNotes for my neonatal notes. I'm doing my best to stay positive. I'm sorry to hear about your losses ❤️x

I was surprised when I had my first midwife appointment (many years ago so pre COVID) that it was very short and more a conversation than anything else. I think she might have poked my abdomen to see if she could feel my uterus but that was because I thought was more weeks than I actually was. I was expecting it to be much more detailed and thorough physical examination (not sure why). So I can see why the first appointment in COVID times would be via a screen.

Try not to so anxious, easier said than done I know

@toomuchlaundry thank you for this information. I thought I was missing out 😂 x

I'm with you on this. I had a miscarriage 4 years ago and this is my 1st pregnancy since.
Last time I started to miscarry at nearly 9 weeks and it turned out the baby had stopped growing at 5 weeks.

I went for an early scan yesterday and this time everything looks ok and was measuring just over 6 weeks (which is right)

The things I've been told this time that I've found super helpful are 'every pregnancy is different' and 'it's more likely everything will be ok than not'

I'd just say, don't go reading things online because it doesn't help and try your best to stay calm.

Lots of positivity to us both ❤️
