16 weeks - movement then no movement

Just looking for a little reassurance... I'm 16 weeks and have felt unmistakable baby movements over the last week - second baby so certain it wasn't wind/digestion/pulse etc (felt first baby at 16.5 weeks so in line with what I was expecting this time round.)

Baby was very active for a few days but I would only feel her in one spot. I haven't felt her at all the last two days though. I know 16 weeks is considered early anyway and I'm sure it's just that she has changed position and is no longer kicking me in a sensitive spot, but just wanted reassurance from other people who have experienced this? I also know that there is nothing that could be done if all was not well and it's just a case of waiting it out, but as I said, just after some reassurance.

Just bumping this for you. I don't have any advice but interested in responses, as feel like I've had some flutters for the last week (16+4 today). However it's my first baby so can't rule out wind/digestion etc. Haven't felt anything last 24 hours. Could just be something else in my case but interested to see what other people say

Yes, this is pretty normal
They still have quite a lot of space at that stage so not every movement will be felt

By 20/22 weeks, the movement patterns should start to become a bit more regular but will still move around a bit

Enjoy those lovely little flutters, before they turn into big boots which hurt..!

Happened to me and I was worried, but it always came back. It can be about placement or placenta. About a week after I felt flutters, they stopped and I was so worried.

When I had daily movements and they stopped for a day once, I went in for monitoring.

I think the most important thing is, if you're worried or unsure, ring your midwife team!

Apparently before 24 weeks irregular movements are fine. they may have just changed to a position that absorbs the feeling more etc.

Perhaps try Cola to drink. I think this can be used before scans to wake sleepy babies.
But I would contact a MW myself if I was still worried. Can you ring your hospital? I had a scan at one stage after no movement for 24/48 hrs (forget), but they were so supportive& reassuring. I remember baby bouncing like a runner later that day! Grin

Oh that reminds me, I was told drink cold ice water and lay on one side (I think it was left but I found right better for me, or vice versa) but I can't remember how far along before this is pertinent.

Completely normal OP Smile at 16 weeks they're so so super tiny still and lots of room. I even rang the midwife to ask and she said not to worry at all at this stage as they can tuck themselves away.

I also felt baby around 15/16 weeks and it was more a curse than a blessing as every time I couldn't feel him I'd be panicking so much. Often bad days and days of no movement at all. I'm now 21 weeks and movement is daily but it's only been that way for a week or so!
