I had a pregnancy of unknown location earlier this year, and am pregnant again. Last time the EPU said if I got pregnant again to ask to be referred for an early scan, so I spoke to GP today, imagining they'd book me in for a couple of weeks time but I've got an appointment tomorrow - will be 4.5 weeks or thereabouts. I know it is very unlikely that they'll be able to see anything but I guess it will just to be make sure it's not another PUL/ectopic - can they tell at this stage?
Any advice/ experiences as to what would be positive signs that can be gleaned from such an early scan?

Hoping they'll do blood tests as well...

@cossmoss I do feel that sometimes people say a miscarriage is like a 'period' and for some it may be but other it's not so it's quite annoying when the EPU and midwife describe it like one.

How are you today? I hope the easing and cramps have eased for you X

I hope you're ok

The kind of pain you describe isn't "typical"'of a miscarriage at less than 5 weeks (I've had several) it does sound more ectopic based on the pain you have described (also had several of those) especially as you've had a PUL before which is basically an ectopic that they can't see to say with certainty where the implantation site is

If your hcg is falling though sounds like your body is trying to resolve this one itself x

Thank you so much @WJK00 and @twinningatlife - I am ok now and everything has eased off, thankfully. I did phone the EPU about the pain in the middle of the night because it seemed unexpectedly intense (and I have a high pain threshold generally) and I was getting worried but they just gave the painkillers and rest advice.

I think you are right that my body has managed to deal with this one itself, thank goodness. Just scared of it happening again and wondering whether I should get checked out. I am late thirties and worried about things not working as they should. Although I know I am not alone in that respect.

@cossmoss same thing happened to me recently and I understand your concern about late thirties as I felt exactly the same so I booked fertility tests. Discovered issues I was not aware of but it has put me at ease at least I know where I stand now and go has advised next time I am pregnant to take some medication to thicken the womb, without that advice I would probably be back to square one xx

Thanks - glad you were able to get some answers... I think I'm going to do the same. Love your username!
