Anterior placenta- when did you feel baby kicking ?

At my nhs ultrasound earlier this week at 13 weeks I was told I have an anterior placenta. I'm just wondering when you felt the baby moving/kicking?

They said I shouldn't be concerned if I don't feel anything before my 20 week scan..

Baby was jumping all over the place and flipping upside down throughout the entire scan which was so nice to see!

Also, slightly different topic. Did you experience lower back pain with an anterior placenta as I am in sooo much pain right now!! 😅

21 weeks for first (with hindsight, 23 weeks before I was sure it wasn't just wind 😆).
No back pain but I had during tummy muscles at the start of the pregnancy and tried to keep that up to support the back. Pregnancy does pull the small of your back forward, so if your tummy muscles aren't supporting that you'll suffer. Try to keep those muscles engaged (pull belly button into spine) as much as you can. Pregnancy yoga might be a good idea if you're feeling it already. Congratulations, good luck and enjoy. Flowers

I had strong, not during, tummy muscles 🙄

Babyiwantabump · 22/08/2021 17:05

Didn’t really unless I had my hand on my bump - and he was 11lb7 at birth so not like he was small !

ame88 · 22/08/2021 17:12

21 weeks x

20+ weeks with an anterior placenta and did have a few episodes of reduced movement that with hindsight I think were movements muffled by the placenta. Couldn't believe how big it was when it came out, no wonder baby couldn't boot me through it!

Thefaceofboe · 22/08/2021 17:17

They say to mention if you haven’t felt movement by 24 weeks, regardless of your placenta so I think 20 weeks is still very early for a lot of people. I did feel movements very early in my pregnancy but I know people who didn’t till about 22 weeks even with a posterior placenta Smile

I'm 23 weeks (24 weeks on tuesday) with an anterior placenta and although this week I've felt odd things that might be the baby the past two days or so ...( im not 100% sure as it doesn't quite fit the descriptions of bubbles or flutters..)

bq2020 · 22/08/2021 17:32

I felt the odd movement from around 19 weeks but nothing regular or definite until around week 24.
Currently nearly 39 weeks now and I have a little dancer in there! Haha.. good luck! X

orangejuicer · 22/08/2021 17:34

Flutterings at about 21-22w.

You will feel it don't worry Grin

French2020 · 22/08/2021 17:46

19 weeks. Now 24 weeks and it’s more regular

deethra · 22/08/2021 18:04

I felt flutters from about 19 weeks, I'm now 21 weeks and not much has changed. I normally feel them in the evenings once I'm laying back on the sofa.
It's so nerve wrecking not being able to feel more yet.

As for back pains, YES! 😖 The lower back pain is awful!

Anon08 · 22/08/2021 19:08

Fluttering at 18 weeks and sporadic kicking from 20. Had my first one that made me jump today at 21+5. My MW and sonographer told me not to worry if I’d not felt much before 24 weeks

ClearButtons · 22/08/2021 22:25

I'm 22wks 5 days and not really felt anything yet - sometimes I have a strange sensation but I couldn't say it was baby for definite! My anterior placenta is really low as well, so I've heard it can be even longer than a high one. Desperate to feel a real kick now !

GalaxyGirl24 · 22/08/2021 22:28

Around 20 weeks I think, maybe a little later. And I had awful hip and back pain but only at night!

dg93 · 23/08/2021 14:22

Thank you all so much for answering, I can't wait to feel my baby kicking!!

I actually felt a funny sensation on my right, where baby is, it felt like little bubbles, hoping this is baby flutters. It was on my right side, so not blocked by the placenta GrinGrinGrin

Popping from around 21 weeks, proper kicks from around 25

tuxedocat · 23/08/2021 21:34

Second pregnancy - about 19 weeks, but properly about 20/21. Not regularly though, depends what position gets in as they can still be quiet small enough to tuck away and hide!

tashx · 24/08/2021 02:15

I'm 20 weeks and feel lots of kicks but baby is still head up
But I have felt him since about 16 weeks
I also have awful back pain

Pitstop1986 · 24/08/2021 10:23

I've felt wriggles from about 17 weeks, but sparodically. Sometimes I'll feel a bit of movement, then I won't feel anything for a couple of days. I'm coming up to 21 weeks now. I've felt 2 definite kicks whilst my hands were on my tummy and if I feel wriggling, if I lie on my side and put my hands just inside where my hipbone is, I can feel the movement.

Apparently if you lie on your front propped up slightly it's easier to feel flutters with an anterior placenta

Aggy35 · 24/08/2021 10:55

For me it was week 23 when I could honestly say it was a movement for sure. And yes backpain...one day I'm good yet the next day I can't sleep due to pain

Helporhindrance07 · 24/08/2021 11:05

About 18 weeks (second baby). I’m now 35 weeks and I could probably draw where I think my placenta is on my tummy as I get strong movements all around but nothing in a certain area (right in the middle for me!). I have had no back pain at all Smile

sykadelic · 24/08/2021 16:01

I felt tiny bubbly kicks under my boobs occasionally but otherwise, never. I made it to 37 weeks and he was 7lbs 9oz.

HedgerowRobin · 24/08/2021 16:34

I started feeling pops and what felt like muscle twitches around 18-19 weeks but nothing that felt like definite kicks/movement until 22-23 weeks. I still sometimes can’t feel some movements internally but can see my belly moving around or feel them with my hand which is weird! I had quite severe lower back pain around 13-14 weeks too but wasn’t sure if that was anything to do with my placenta or just general pregnancy aches and pains.
