Did you tell your work you were going for your 12 week scan?

I don't want people to know yet incase it is bad news (something doesn't feel right) but I'm a teacher so will need someone to cover my class for the afternoon. Did you tell work you had a scan or something else? I'm sure they will want proof for the reason I'm off?

I had to tell my workplace early due to a suspected miscarriage. Baby was fine and to be honest, I felt so relieved that everyone knew. Felt like I was keeping a massive secret and when I felt rubbish, I got cut a bit of slack.

I told our HR but it was because it was the day I got back from annual leave AND my manager was changing during the leave so didn’t feel comfortable telling the new one.

Just say you have a hospital appt you can’t reschedule. if they want proof you can share the letter scanned and black out the department/reason information.

I am a teacher and didn't tell. I could get 3 hours payed for medical purposes but they needed proof. I just asked to be non payed so they let me go no questions asked.

I'm a teacher and told the head why I needed the afternoon off. I did also mention that I wanted it to be confidential and they really reassured me that it would be kept confidential even if I hadn't mentioned it. It meant I didn't have to show any letters to anyone, cover was sorted and I got paid

My head was hideous to me last time I was pregnant and business Manager told me she hates when staff tells her they are pregnant Sad

I told my manager who said ‘it’s great to know, congratulations!’ She commented that if she knew and something did go wrong it would mean that she could keep me firmly off work and defend the position as long as necessary.

Based on what you've said about their previous behaviour, I wouldn't tell them. If it will cause you stress for them to know earlier then wait as long as you like. For the scan date I'm not sure what you could say as, like you said, they might want proof of an appointment. If you have a letter for the scan can you copy and black out the info apart from name, appointment time etc and show that? Just say you want to keep the letter itself private.
