Bad ovarian pain

8 replies

MelissaM26 · 17/08/2021 15:31

I’ve had bad ovarian/vaginal pain for years really.
I started my period when I was 9, suffering with heavy painful periods ever since. My biological mother has endometriosis and traces of cancer cells, lately my pain has just been getting so so bad, within the last year I’ve been to my GP countless times. A&E 4 times for it and been referred to gyne several times but keep getting sent home. I’ve been told that my right ovary is polycystic yet they tell me it’s nothing to worry about, I’ve been told I’m getting sent to pain management but why am I having all this pain
Has anyone had similar experiences?

Hi OP.

I'm sorry. That sounds really tough.

You might want to report your post and ask for it to be moved to Women's Health for you to get more responses.

Up to 30% of women have poly cystic ovaries. It is generally a normal variation in physiology. It can be a symptom of pcos, which is an endocrine disorder, but not without other associated blood results and/ or symptoms.

Have you had a laparoscopy to rule out endo?

MelissaM26 · 22/08/2021 09:39

@physicskate
I have not had a laparoscopy yet, when referring me to gyne my GP said it would be a good idea to have one but my gyne doctor said on the phone I am young and have lots of eggs so if she doesn’t see anything wrong on my ultrasound then she will not do anything and send me to pain management

Request to see other gyne as that's a load of shite. You need a lap and hysteroscopy to see whats going on.
I was diagnosed with endo in my early 20's via a lap. Ultra sound showed no issues
Yes periods can be painful but should not be sending you to a&e and that requires investigation not just pain management

It would also be more advisable to have a lap then if they do find endo they can do treatment while you are in your fertile years

I have really pushed and pushed and tried with the doctors and hospital it’s brought me to tears so many times I am just sick and tired of it I’ve tried fighting but they’re so resilient and I don’t know how to approach things anymore, I’m trying for a baby and there’s no luck my patner was referred to urology in April and we’ve still not even had a letter through for the appointment, a couple more weeks and they’re breaking the law by not legally giving us the support for the appointments, I’ve been in tears so many times I just want a little bubba and every month is so hard especially when I don’t even know if there’s anything wrong because no ones helping me

Ask your gp to refer you to another hospital or you could even call pals at the hospital you are under and complain they should get you in with another consultant, you have a right to a 2nd option

MelissaM26 · 22/08/2021 12:54

@boymum88
I am ringing PALS tomorrow
I know you might not have the answer to this question but do I have the right to a laparoscopy if I have symptoms of endometriosis do you know?

I would say yes, you have unexplained pain that is hospitalising you. I don't see why the gyne you spoke to have fob you off with a pain clinic/management.
I presume coz of covid it's been a phone app and they haven't physically examined you.

For context I had very painful periods ( not over heavy) lots of pressure when it was the time of the month, painful sex. The first lap they found grade 3 endo the 2nd lap they endo had come back at grade 2
