34 weeks and feel like I've ridden a bike

So basically that. I'm 34 weeks pregnant and woke up yesterday with sore muscles. Best way I can describe it is like I've ridden a bike with a really uncomfy seat after not being on one in years. Also feel like I need to pee more often when I don't.

Has anyone had this or know what could be causing it? I haven't been doing any exercise other than walking.

And before anyone points out I could ask my midwife I don't find her very approachable.

I'd want checking for uti. Symptoms can be different in pregnancy than 'usual'. Call gp.

I'll phone later in the week if it's not any better. It's a bit better than it was yesterday but still have sore muscles

Definitely get checked with GP for UTI.

For the muscles, maybe try with a foam roller or get a pregnancy massage to ease tension.

Good luck!

I am full term now but have had to work really hard at stretching hamstrings and glutes with the Swiss ball and pilates bands.

I have SPD - could this be what you have? - and pilates helps make me work on my pelvic floor (... and reduces the gnawing feeling on the pubis!).

If it is a uti, better getting it seen sooner rather than later.

I've text my midwife to see if I can hand a sample in and if it goes to the maternity clinic or drs surgery. My drs surgery is still locked and they only open the door if you have an appointment. Everything is such a hassle still with covid.

Thanks for the replies

It sounds like what I was assured was SPD.
I described it as feeling like I'd been kicked full on in the fanny, foot coming up between my legs. So similar soreness to riding a bike?!

Fourleafclover93 · 17/08/2021 10:28

@Ninjawannabee yeah thats pretty much how it feels 😂 I don't know much about spd just looked it up on Google. Did it cause you any problems in pregnancy other than the pain?

If it helps, my bits feel swollen and battered... I have also developed a varicose vein down there! I mentioned to the midwife and her response was that it was totally normal and would hopefully improve after giving birth. Thanks love! ;-)

If you feel like you’ve been kicked in the bits and have sore legs or back there’s a good chance it could be SPD/PGP. It’s unpleasant and for some really painful but it usually goes away after baby is born. Mine came back at 8 weeks with this pregnancy and I find certain stretches do help. Loads of info online x

LunaDreams · 17/08/2021 13:56

I have this too and am also 34 weeks. For past week I've been feeling like someone has kicked me up there and like I've been sat on a bike too long. Not super painful, just uncomfortable. I've got a MW appointment in a few days so will check then. Things also feel quite swollen down there which I'm assured is normal due to amount of excess blood in your system by this stage. Wonders of pregnancy eh!? Will ket you know if I get any advice from MW

Fourleafclover93 · 17/08/2021 14:27

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like the pain thing is fairly common. Its more uncomfy than actually painful and a hot water bottle helped last night. Will have a look at stretches.

Its more the constant feeling of needing to pee thats annoying me. Going to get checked for uti though.

My bump looks like it's dropped so wondered if the head is engaged more. It was partly engaged at my last appointment 2 weeks ago. Not seeing my mw for another 3 weeks which isn't ideal and shes a nightmare to get a hold of

@OP my SPD was quite mild, I just took paracetamol and used it as an excuse not to do standing up jobs like dishwasher, hoovering! But I know others who had it get worse and worse and they needed crutches, so I'd keep an eye on it and maybe send a message to your midwife so you can get some treatment if needed.

I'm pretty sure it's temporary even in the worst cases, mine disappeared minutes after giving birth
