Advice for heartburn early pregnancy

Does anyone have any tips for heartburn? I'm just 12 weeks and the last month has been unbearable. I didn't realise it was heartburn at first because I've never had it before, I just thought my constant all day nausea had gotten much worse in the evenings so I wasn't treating it and was trying to eat through it as that usually improves my nausea during the day.
The last week I've been trying to treat it, I wasn't over eating before but I'm eating even less and adjusting my meals so heaviest in the morning, light afternoon and just a small portion of vegetable soup for dinner. Using gaviscon liquid and rennie's chews (4 spoonful's & 4 tablets per evening). Trying to follow advice on NHS website, but most doesn't apply to me, I'm not eating enough vegetables but hardly eating terribly or excessively, I haven't been drinking caffeine or fizzy drinks (ironically I was prior to getting heartburn but not recently). Don't eat close to bed time, keeping myself raised in bed until the symptoms lessen enough for me to lie down etc etc I went to speak to my pharmacist and he just repeated all the advice on the NHS website & advised rennie's & galviscon and wasn't helpful when I said it wasn't improving enough. I'd tried to buy some with Esomeprazole before seeing the inside information sheet said it's safer to avoid it in pregnancy and again the pharmacist said not to take those so I feel like gaviscon and rennie's are my only option.
My heartburn has improved marginally, not so painful but still keeps me awake past midnight and I'm completely exhausted. I'm also waking up in the night absolutely starving hungry since I struggle to eat in the evenings and having to eat crackers to be able to get back to sleep. It also sometimes starts quite early in the day like 4pm and I have to force myself to eat dinner.
Just any advice would be appreciated as I'd love to try something new just to feel like I have a chance at this improving!

@jolota I've always struggled with heartburn at night and it's definitely apparent in this pregnancy also (first pregnancy☺️!). One tip I found years ago that genuinely helps me is lying on my left hand side with my head slightly elevated. I can't remember why the left hand side offers relief but it definitely does work and eases the discomfort for me. Hope this helps xx

Please go to your gp. Mine was awful in my last and this pregnancy. I’m now on omoperzole and it helps a lot, I tried peppermint etc nothing touched it. I also have Hg so I’m on anti sickness too. My heartburn got so bad I ended up throwing up blood.

It sounds random but I have suffered with heartburn and trapped wind prior and during my pregnancy and the only thing that works is Loveheart sweets x

I almost never had it before pregnancy. I have to be careful to avoid citrus, tomatoes, and spicy foods - or at least have them in moderation.

Go to the doctors and ask them to prescribe omeprazole.
I'm 34 weeks on Thursday and my heartburn is disgusting, wish I'd gone to the doctors weeks ago, but will be asking doctor to prescribe for the last few weeks as can't cope with it anymore 😔

Another vote to get to the GP for omprazole. Also see if you can get peptac from your pharmacy (version of gaviscon except better)
Was a lifesaver for me. I used to have to down it from the bottle

Thanks all for the advice!
I was a little wary about going to the GP without trying everything I could over the counter because a lot of the time I feel like they'll just fob me off as these are 'normal' pregnancy symptoms but it's reassuring to hear others have got prescriptions that help so I will contact them this week.
I will also have a look for the suggested peptac since gaviscon liquid doesn't seem to help me at all.
