Snuzpod vs Next2me?

Sorry if this is completely in the wrong place! I’ve put here as I’m wondering if anyone has used both/either and has a verdict?

Pregnant with my first baby, and reeeeeally struggling with what bedside crib to get?

The only plus I can think for next to me is that it’s a bit wider than the snuzpod? So more roomy and comfortable maybe? But I’ve viewed both in person and apart from that - I just don’t know what to get!

We looked at both and went for the Next2Me in the end as it was more roomy and we were worried DD would outgrow the Snuzpod too quickly. I had considered the Snuzpod as it is meant to be easier to move between rooms but I had a section and wouldn’t have been able to carry it anyway so we got a separate crib for downstairs.

I have a next 2 me prob the old model as over 3yrs old as used for both ds, the fact you can rise the head of the next 2 me was a god send for 1ds as he had silent reflux.
If your not bothered about which one you want, have a think about which one you like the look of best. Is one cheaper / or on sale ?

I always highly recommend the next to me crib . Very light and easy to move. We had one with our daughter 2 years ago and now due twins next month so have got a second one for downstairs.

As pp said, very good for reflux!

I actually have both. Initially bought the snuzpod for DD1 and we were very happy with it, she was in it until 6 months. It does look nicer than other next to me type cribs in my opinion, wooden and comes in different colours whereas the others have more metal on show and look more like travel cots IMO. But that’s just aesthetics so not that important.

The newer snuzpods do now come with an extra bit that you can attach to tilt the cot for babies with reflux. And the main bassinet bit can be easily removed and taken into another room whereas you can’t do that with the next2me so would need a separate Moses basket or whatever for downstairs in the early days.

However the main difference is that the snuzpod can only be attached to beds where the mattress comes all the way up to the side of the bed. I didn’t realise this. In between DD1 and Dd2 we got a new bed where there is a base and the mattress doesn’t come all the way to the edge of that makes sense. This then means there is a gap between the snuzpod and the mattress so it’s unsafe to have it in cosleeper mode. But the next2me can still be attached to beds like this because the legs of the cot can go under the bed. It’s really hard to explain but I hope that makes sense!

So if you have a bed where the mattress comes all the way to the sides of the beds then you can choose either. But if the base is wider than the mattress then you need a next2me for cosleeping mode.

Our bed is one like this: otty.com/products/otty-aura-hybrid-mattress?cnxclid=EAIaIQobChMIgd78_qC18gIV4YBQBh2uFQ_IEAQYAiABEgLVffD_BwE&utm_medium=shopping&utm_source=connexity&variant=31128677187659

And because the base is wider than the mattress we have to use a next2me

Givemebackmylilo · 16/08/2021 11:46

I had both.

IMO the next to me feels cheap and horrible compared to the snuzpod. I hated it

MyGrassIsBrowner · 16/08/2021 11:54

I had a Snuzpod3 and personally my DD hated it and wouldn't settle. They are lovely to look at and have a tilt option for reflux but I ended up selling it. We're going for a chicco next2me this time round, they are much cheaper too.

User16838 · 16/08/2021 12:23

@Givemebackmylilo I think the same, the next2me feels like a cheap travel cot. But it fits.

@MyGrassIsBrowner to be fair if your dd wouldn’t settle in a snuzpod I don’t think she would have settled in a nexr2me instead. The bit they sleep in isn’t that different and IMO the main things babies don’t like about cots is a) being put down and b) the mattresses are hard and flat for safety reasons. Hence why newborn cribs often go unused in favour of sleeping in mums arms 😂

Moominmiss · 16/08/2021 13:04

I actually didn’t like either, particularly the look of next to me. We ended up opting for a tutti bambini cozee which I love. It’s roomy, and looks good!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 16/08/2021 13:08

@User16838 Yeah fair point tbh. I'm only planning on buying a second hand one this time as I wasted £200 on the snuzpod and didnt even get half my money back. You live and learn I guess! Hoping baby no.2 will tolerate it this time otherwise I'll probably end up co-sleeping for a while
