Hi all,

I have just finished week 2 of a 4 week notice and have just got my BFP - due approx 23rd April. I start new job on 7th Sept.

The new job comes with a 15% pay rise and hybrid working model. Way more money and way less travelling!

I know the decision is mine at the end of the day but curious to hear some opinions - should I stay or should I go? (Now I am singing that song! Haha)

I am in 2 minds because -
Maternity pay/rights, i dont think id be in new job long enough to qualify?
If I stay and unfortunately miscarry, then I have missed out on a massive opportunity in the new place.(my current job would let me stay, they even joked today if i had changed my mind yet)
Do I be honest with new employer and see what they say? Like where I would stand starting in Sept and going off to have a baby in the April

Thank you for reading x

Shared parental pay is pitiful too

@Dogoodfeelgood in my first post i mentioned that my current job would be happy if i was to change my mind, they even joked today saying had i changed my mind yet to stay and as i am only 4 weeks, they would have no proof i already knew i was pregnant at this stage, i have another 2 weeks to work to the end of my notice.

I am going to make the move and just save like mad which should be easier with the 15% pay increase! It will all work out, thanks everyone :)

@CTMcG
Sorry - and again in English. Universal credit is a benefit for people on low income, it is replacing some others including tax credits. You can do a calculation to see if you may be eligible for anything. My post is really saying that there is a difference in the calculation between SMP and maternity allowance.

The reason I know about the difference is a court case where single mothers said it wasn’t fair that they lost out through happening to change job.

Information on universal credit, benefit calculator and SMP/maternity allowance:

@Duetorain thank you so much for going out of your way to explain that, very appreciated!

Dh and I aren't on universal credit or any kind of help so that doesn't seem like it would affect us but thats pretty crap for single parents/ people who do get some help!

Indeed @CTMcG About £460 per month if single parent or just the woman is earning.

If that isn’t an issue then the new job sounds good Smile
