Hi ladies
I am looking for some advice, I know im not the only one going through this mind blowing situation.
I am currently 15 weeks & 3 days pregnant & am in limbo about the COVID-19 vaccine. They are recommending pregnant ladies to get this due to hospitalisation increase, my only worry is the affects it may have on the baby...
Has anyone on here had the vaccine & given birth with baby being healthy or any affects due to vaccine ?
Any help would be grateful .
Thank you 🙏🏻

Millions of women have had the vaccines, had no complications and had healthy babies that also benefitted from the vaccine as newborns.

I saw my SIL today who is around 20 weeks, she had her vaccine a couple of weeks ago and is fine. Didn't even have any side effects.

Your vaccine will protect you and your baby now, and after birth. As it does for the flu and whooping cough jabs (which you should also get)

I've not had my baby yet, but have had both doses of the pfizer vaccine. I thought very carefully about it, but feel very comfortable that it is extremely unlikely to have a long term negative effect on the baby. I'm a biologist and have worked in researching new medicines for over 20 years. I would be very concerned about taking a new medicine in pregnancy (ie a completely new chemical), but the vaccines recommended in pregnancy are biological RNA molecules and a few other not novel ingredients. The RNA is very unlikely to cross the placenta, and will largely remain in your muscle for a short period of time (and will degrade through natural processes) . The RNA is the genetic code instructions for your body to make the viral spike protein, which your body makes an immune response (a very normal process which happens all the time when exposed to any infection during pregnancy ) . And wonderfully you will share protective antibodies with you baby.

I totally get why people feel wary of vaccines when pregnant, but the risks of covid in pregnancy are not insignificant. And even if it is a mild case it would be stressful, and if picked up in hospital at birth would be rubbish to spend first couple of weeks ill with a new baby or worse end up with long covid. I was at a checkup recently and midwife said the maternity ward had lots of women with covid, many more than the previous waves.

Hi ladies

Thank you so much for your honest advice.
I am definitely going to take this on board.
Just wanted to hear some answers from women who are going through the same as me , it's good to hear positive & no negative. Makes my mind more at ease 🙏🏻

Thank you x

There’s so many threads about the covid vaccine on here, might be helpful to have a little scroll and find one with lots of comments. I’m 32 weeks tomorrow and having my first jab today Smile it took a lot of thought but decided to go for it.
