Who has had their vaccine?
Who's had their vaccine and given birth?
What trimester did you have it?

I'm so concerned about getting it and I'm by no means an anti vaxer!

I was adamant I wasn't getting it but now I am 31 weeks pregnant I really am starting to change my mind. I am so scared of catching it and being seriously ill (my BMI is 40).

I'm googling no end of information but it all seems the same and doesn't really put my mind at ease.

Please no horrid comments as I'm worrying enough (either way) as it is - just honest opinions and experiences. Thankyou xx

It’s a horribly tough decision and I got mine back when the guidance was incredibly vague. I had my first when I was 29 weeks & second at 31 weeks - the evidence is there now that for pregnant women, especially in their 3rd trimester covid is incredibly dangerous for mum & baby and that getting the vaccine is the safest option.

Tons and tons of threads on this.

I’ve just had my second dose at 34 weeks. For me it was a no brainier. I’m still going out to work on the tube every day for one thing, and when I go off I don’t plan to shit myself away and not see anyone, so the vaccine is extra protection. No evidence that the vaccine will harm my baby (it doesn’t even cross the placenta and is not a live vaccine) but there’s actual evidence and many cases of covid being a real risk in late pregnancy.

I didn’t have any side effects apart from a sore arm.

Shut myself away obviously not shit BlushConfused

Had my jabs at 5 and 13 weeks, no side effects other than a sore arm. Pregnancy progressing well.
Thousands of women have now been jabbed in pregnancy and had healthy babies, the evidence is that you are much more at risk of covid than any vaccine side effect, especially in the third trimester and even more so with high BMI so definitely talk to your midwife or a professional at a vaccine centre.

Hi,

I felt the same as you, I wasn't going to have it as I thought most people would be vaccinated by the time I was in 3rd trimester and the case numbers would be reduced. I am also a low risk pregnancy, normal BMI, no high blood pressure so wasn't too concerned.
When i got to 27 weeks the numbers hadn't reduced though and also more evidence was being published about the high risk to pregnant women in their 3rd trimester.
I spoke to my GP who said while there is no risk that we know of having the vaccine whilst pregnant (not even a hypothetical one in how it could be possible to harm your baby) there is a known risk with catching covid in your 3rd trimester. I booked in for it the next day and still feel happy with my decision.
