Extreme tiredness in 1st trimester!

Hi, I'm between 10 and 11 weeks pregnant and I am suffering from extreme tiredness! In fact extreme is an understatement, my limbs feel heavy and achy (sort of like when you have the flu) it's an effort to lift my arms and finding it difficult to even sit up straight! Is this normal? I know tiredness is a symptom but this seems next level, I'm struggling to work or do anything!

Have you had a Covid test? Sore achy limbs is a symptom.

I was exhausted with one of my pregnancies and had to have an afternoon nap when possible (including at work once or twice!) but not specifically my limbs.

If it's not Covid for sure, I'd go to the midwife for a chat.

Totally normal. I used to fall asleep on the drive in the car. Couldn't even make it into the house. DH used to wake me up when he got in an hour or so later.

Yep, I was so glad WFH first trimester - I used to have a lunchtime nap!

Just rest as much as you can, it will get better in a few weeks (then back with a vengeance in 3rd tri) x

You aren't alone! Sounds normal to me, if your concerned speak to a midwife or doctor but hopefully it's nothing a nap in the afternoon won't sort out

I’m the same, I’m 12+4 today.

Whole body heaviness. 3pm is the worst for me, I work in an office and struggling to keep my eyes open.

I have 2 caffeine drinks a day, one at 9am and 1 at 2pm but even that isn’t helping today!

I don't think the tiredness I felt with a newborn ever matched up to how dog tired I felt in 1st trimester. I was absolutely shattered all the time and just wanted to go straight to bed after dinner.

You're body is doing so much work at this stage. It will hopefully feel better in a couple of weeks xx

I was exhausted throughout my whole first trimester, I gave up caffeine & found that only added to it. Felt slightly better between 14-24 weeks. I'm now 25 weeks & could literally sleep all day. I'll be like a sloth by the time I get to term 😂

I honestly don't know how people commute during the first trimester. i thought my best friend was exaggerating. I was having to take lunchtime naps and finish work at four pm. I am usually a night owl who goes to bed at 1-2am but I was in bed every night by 9:30

I would keep an eye out for other symptoms and talk to your doctor if you suspect you’ve caught some sort of infection.

But otherwise, yes, that sounds about right. I could barely get out of bed in the morning. Eating seemed to make me sleepy rather than giving me energy. The slightest bit of exercise led to me curling up under the covers. It got much better for me around week 12, and most women find it clears up in second trimester. Good luck!

I’m 19+4 and honestly it hasn’t gotten any better for me, I can say my symptoms are exactly what you’ve explained and have been since around 7 weeks pregnant. Have you been checked for gestational diabetes or low iron? I know they can contribute to symptoms. I hope it gets better for you opFlowers
I’m actually bed ridden and have been the whole pregnancy so far… dizziness & tiredness. Food also makes me sleepy x
