Hi all,

Just looking for some advice, I have been feeling under the weather for the last few days with general aches and pains. I went in to hospital for a growth scan on Friday morning and asked to speak to someone as I felt very faint and hot. Was admitted to triage and discharged with pregnancy fatigue it was mentioned on my notes they were going to do a covid test but didn’t. Saturday and Sunday got progressively worse and I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus. Sore throat, cough and aches and pains everywhere. I did a lateral flow last night and it’s come back positive. Feeling worried as I’m in the third trimester and struggling with my breathing and chest pains already ☹️. I work two jobs for the nhs and travel in on public transport everyday I feel like one of my jobs has not listened to my concerns about doing a public facing role and the lack of distancing and am worried to go back as they want me back on Monday. To top it off we are also moving house next week!

Has anyone had covid and what were they best ways you treated it at home? How long did it generally last? I had my first jab in January but then became pregnant. My little boy is due end of October just hope he can be strong enough and it won’t hurt him like it is me Thanks all xx

Do a PCR.
Isolate and give details to T+T.
Rest up.

You need lots of fluids and rest and keep ontop of paracetamol every 4 hours to stop any fever spikes.
If your already struggling with breathlessness call NHS 111 who will be able to get you video assessed by a Dr. I was put on steroid treatment (wasn't pregnant) but there maybe some which can be prescribed. If the Dr says to take it and its safe then do so it will help massively.

Try and keep upright if possible in bed with pillows etc as it will help your lungs including for sleeping. I used a bean bag which helped.
Also if you stretch your arms out to the side as wide as you can whilst sitting up it helps expand your lungs.

Yikes, you should have booked a PCR test rather than a lateral flow (those are only for people with no symptoms). You still need to do this for track and trace purposes to keep others safe.
If you haven't already called 111 then please go to an emergency department if you don't get a 111 callback soon.

You need to do a PCR test first-off. The guidance is to do a PCR test is you have symptoms, or if you have a positive lateral flow test.

And you won't be able to work next Monday - you will still be self isolating after getting a positive test result!

You need to book a PCR asap. You won't be going to work on Monday. You might not be moving either, unless both you and your partner are out of any required isolation by then. You need to get the PCR done so anyone you saw at the hospital can be informed asap.

I have ordered a pcr test to come tomorrow as the symptoms came on so suddenly. I have read that the isolation starts from the first day symptoms appear and not the day I take the pcr test. Unfortunately it went from feeling like pregnancy fatigue to full blown covid very quickly! I am self isolating and have been in touch with track and trace and will call 111 tonight

I got covid at 31 weeks. Felt awful for about 3 weeks. I contacted gp and midwife for advice. I was concerned about my breathing they gave me an oxygen monitor (the finger one) you can buy on Amazon for £8 also. They said if my levels dropped below 95 to go straight to hospital. Luckily they never did. Take paracetamol as often as allowed, drink loads, I bought healthy soups and juices to pack in the nutrients and took my pregnancy vitamins. Listen to your body too if you need to sleep then sleep etc but do get advice if you are struggling. Watch out for baby’s movements was advice too. Luckily 36 weeks now and all ok apart from smell and taste not quite back.
