Hello.
I’m driving my self mad.
I decided to get my Covid jab, although health care professionals wouldn’t give any answers. 2nd one not due until September and I’m due September the 22nd.
I have asthma, and quite often need antibiotics for colds. (Past use to be worse and was always on/off steroids).
We have shielded over the summer holiday as I’m not double jabbed. (Poor kids!).
The Covid cases are high where I live and lots of people have been living their usual life and not wearing masks etc.
I’m very anxious as I’m 37 weeks when the children go back. I’m concerned about catching it that late and the kids b
Bringing it home.
Older 2 year 7 and year 5 are in a Sen school with 360 children and I know the bubbles are going and also taxi to and back from school with 6 other kids from 6 other classes.
Youngest is year 1.
I feel so selfish but would I be seen as crazy keeping them off! I just don’t want it
This close to giving birth?
I have always sent the before when allowed. I think my kids at Sen school will be allowed it’s more my youngest.

If you can keep them off and you’re happy to keep them off then do that. You’re vulnerable & you’re looking out for yourself and your baby. Also, look at getting your vaccination sooner - I got my second 3 Weeks after first which I know doesn’t really happen and I was lucky but you may be able to go into a walk in centre & get it way earlier than 8 weeks x

@Sheisfee I have the government have changed the legislation to at least 8 weeks now! I had mine 2 weeks after hubby, and he could book his at 5 weeks. But now
Even walk ins have to wait 8 at least as the govement have literally just changed it!! 😭😭😭 the government keep saying how important it is that pregnant women are vaccinated in last trimester yet this isn’t helpful.
Thanks for being understanding.

I think its worth contacting your GP. I had mine 3 weeks after the first as I am pregnant (also due end of Sep).
Demand to speak someone, speak to other GP is necessary, hopefully someone will listen.

Tinydancer321 · 08/08/2021 14:59

@Loki01 do you think there is a chance then if I call? Last time I was told they don’t deal with it. I will try tomorrow thank you.

I think its worth it. You might need to insist and might even need to be a bit of a "nightmare". My GP was understanding luckily. I reminded them that I was now classed as vulnerable.
If they cant help you, can they refer you to someone who can?
Dont let the receptionist fob you off.

I think you should try calling and just turning up to walk in centres (that’s what I did) and I took evidence with me about the Pfizer’s efficacy after 21 days and managed to get mine done. I was first in the queue in the morning and walked straight up to a nurse and asked to speak to a dr and they let me have it xx

Tinydancer321 · 08/08/2021 15:37

@Sheisfee thank you. Just worried walk in will be a waste of time. The govement never said they were going to change the timing it was if it wasn’t busy 4 weeks was fine 🤦🏼‍♀️

Just to say, I had my baby at 37 weeks, kids were still at school and had 2 weeks to go before hols started. I was imagining all sorts of covidtastrophes but they didn't occur. I was hating on self for not vaccinating pregnant and protecting ourselves, but it was all ok. Kids did both get colds (tested negative) of course as soon as school finished but baby didn't catch a thing touch wood. I get them to wash hands before going near him and have them cleaning in house too to help scrub surfaces and stuff. When they were at school got them to change clothes and wash before they came near him too. I'm vaccinated now (yesterday) and feel a bit better as he will have antibodies through breast milk. Your baby already protected from your first jab. Try to focus on day at a time. Anxiety thrives when we live in future. Easier said than done obvs but try to focus on the here and now when you feel super anxious about september. The things we really worry about usually don't occur.

@iloveicelollies thank you. Really appreciate that. I know I must be driving family mad 😂. I hate hiding away too. I really want to take the kids to all The places they love. I think I would be gutted enough on that part of we caught it anyway lol. Although it will happen
At one stage just want her in my arms first x
