Its my first baby so I want a new one, but preferably one I can use for a while!

I've used baby travel online for our most recent ones. Gone with a zeta vooom, suitable from birth to toddler. I got the pram, matching fleece footmuff and a better raincover for £70. We had the double version for our twins and it was great.

Pramworld, uberkids, online4baby, babyplanet

Pramworld have 5% off. Think about what you'll need in a pram, shop around once you've narrowed it down. There are always sales and offers on.

Joie prams are supposed to be very good value for money, although if you want a carrycot, I think you need to buy it together with the main pushchair – the carrycots often aren't sold separately.

Depending on budget, I would look second hand and get it professionally cleaned to make it "more new".

If I would buy a pram now, I would look for a large carry cot, so it can be used up to 6 months. I would look for ventilation in the hood (ours didn't have this and I was always worried about baby overheating). A very generous hood, when my baby was lying flat, the sun always bothered him. I would look for carry cot and seat being quite high up, ours was quite low down and I didn't like it. Sturdy wheels, make sure the front wheels are not too small, otherwise you get stuck in every bump in the road. That it folds small and fits in the boot of the car. If possible a weight limit for the child above 20kg, so you can use it until the end of pram time.

I don't know which magical unicorn of pram fulfills all this. We will probably use our pram again, even though it wasn't perfect, just because of financial and environmental reasons. At least I will have a reason to have a good moan.

Joie all the way. Such great quality and affordable.

Second this, I got the V2 Stomp from Aldi & I love it

@Peachi82 I've got a Silver cross coast which partly fulfils your brief but it's missing folding small. It fits in the boot of my car but it's an Insignia so doesn't have that small a boot. Might be helpful if anyone else is looking for those things though.
All the rest is good though, 25kg weight limit for the main seat, nice big bassinet, ventilated hood, lovely deep hood with additional pull out bit. As it's a tandem I have the attachments in the flip up position so the seat and bassinet were higher up.

OP, in your position I would go for a second hand pram and only had mine new as it was a gift (they wouldn't consider buying second hand). I have bought a second, lightweight and small folding pram for the car second hand and there is nothing wrong with it. You can get a brilliant pram for less than £100 and it's much better for the environment too. I get all toys second hand now and always scouting out second hand clothes.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 08/08/2021 21:11

Another vote for 2nd hand. Cosatto are sturdy AF, not particularly fashionable and come with a four-year warranty, so you can find a 2nd hand one in great condition in warranty on eBay etc for a quarter of the new price.

Thefaceofboe · 08/08/2021 21:24

Just bare in mind you can get immaculate second hand prams if you look on Facebook market place etc. Definitely worth a look!

Peachi82 · 08/08/2021 21:33

@tnetenba It does look like it would really tick a lot of my boxes :-)
But I guess we will just use what we have, have a good moan about it and will move baby after a year or 18 months into our second hand city mini GT which is just a dream for older kids.

skkyelark · 08/08/2021 22:25

We have a Nuna Mixx that I think pretty much meets @Peachi82's list – it's not a super-tiny fold, but it fits in the boot of our ancient Rover 25 (with the seat; the carrycot had to go in the back), so it's clearly not huge either. It also has a very generous, sturdy basket, which was important for us. We were lucky it had a long carrycot, as we had a surprisingly long baby (98th centile, two average height parents)!

I'd absolutely recommend it, but it is a bit more expensive than most of the Joie options.

Zhampagne · 08/08/2021 23:57

I know you want new but honestly you would be amazed at the immaculate prams for sale for a quarter of the retail price second-hand. The depreciation on prams is absolutely insane. There are professional pram cleaning services who will literally make it look brand new.

In terms of brands I think Baby Jogger are great value but I don’t think one model would quite see you through. Once they outgrow the carrycot they have to go straight to world-facing and this wasn’t for me before 12 months.
