Early loss of mucus plug + infections

I'm at 28 weeks only and today lost the mucus plug, which came out with a little blood.
I'm really worried because I'm strep B positive and have a bunch of recurring infection symptoms.

When I phoned triage, the midwife wasn't really engaged and seemed really busy. She dismissed my fears and said only to worry if my waters broke.
I'm now really worried of passing the infection to be baby as there are plenty of articles that seem to suggest, despite what the midwife said, that losing the mucus plug is a risk factor. Of course I'm also worried about preterm labour of course.

My biggest fear is that now I'll spend every minute of potentially 12 weeks worrying about baby's movements and interpreting them one way or another.
Do any others have experience of such an early loss of the mucus plug?

I would call back and hopefully get another midwife, explain ur fears and ask to be checked over. Yes people lose plug and it can regenerate but if it was pink I would want to be checked over.
From personal experience I was 28+1 had slight pink discharge ( I now know it was my plug but was a ftm so didn't know any better) and went into premature labour had him later that evening.
Never be scared to call and make a fuss x

I agree with the previous poster! Just say you're not feeling reassured and would like to get checked over. I lost mine at 25 weeks and they said to come in straight away. I had swabs taken, they listened to the heartbeat, they checked my urine, and most importantly they looked whether my cervix was closed. That's the key to knowing whether there's a sign of premature labour starting. Spent 4 hrs in the hospital but I felt so much better after the thorough checks they performed. That was a week ago and nothing happened since but there's no way of knowing whether it regenerated so I'm avoiding sex and bath as I'm scared of increased risk of infections. Good luck! X

Hello bookworm, just checking in- how are you feeling today, hope all is well? :)

Thank you! I'm feeling ok thanks.

No further problems so far.
I have an apt with my midwife coming up this week so I'll really try to press to get to the bottom of things.
A pregnancy really is the longest 9 months of your life!
