Hi all, I have just got a BFP. I think I am 4 weeks as AF was meant to visit this week. I haven’t been taking any folic acid as it wasn’t planned as such and I wanted to know which Pregnacare tablets to take? There is Max, plus, original. I’m vegetarian and don’t eat fish so would it be best to take ones with Omega3? I am still waiting for a doctor or midwife to contact me so thought I would ask on here to get started on folic acid. Thanks in advance!

There are other brands of pregnancy vitamins that are probably cheaper.
Nhs recommends folic acid and vitamin D

It doesn't have to be pregnacare. I found the seven seas ones easier to take and the Zita West ones.

Pregnacare are pricey. My midwife said folic acid and vit d. If you do go for one with omega 3, don't get any old one as they can contain vitamin a. The pregnacare ones don't have vitamin a so are safe for pregnancy.

Supermarket own pregnancy multivitamins are much cheaper, I used asda's 60pk for £3.50. I use normal Omega 3 capsules, I had ones from www.myprotein.com pre pregnancy which I continued with but just 1 a day.

My midwife gave me some freebie vitamins at booking too but there's only folic acid, vit D and vit C in those. I think you benefit more from a multivitamin especially if you suffer with nausea and food aversion early on as the diet can end up a bit beige.

I’m a vegetarian too and have been taking the seven seas pregnancy multivitamin, as I also wanted to make sure I got enough iron and b12.

Not sure how strict you are but if you are going to take omega 3 capsules, a lot of them aren’t vegetarian as they are made with fish oil. I had to do a bit of shopping around to find a vegetarian one.

You don't need a multivitamin at all if you have a healthy ish balanced diet. Folic acid and vit D are all you need to take for pregnancy (folic acid up to 12 weeks). If you want to take one, as others have said supermarket own brand pregnancy version are much cheaper and essentially the same as pregnacare. Don't waste your money!

Thanks so much all of you! I am only 4 weeks and I've already been having so much cramping and nausea as well as fatigue.

The pregnacare with omega 3 aren't vegetarian, so if that's important to you, you might want to try a vegetarian source of omega - there are various brands, often in shops like Holland and Barrett.

So long as you get folic acid and vitamin d, you should be covered for vitamin supplements. Most pharmacy brands have their own products with these in.

Oh my protein do vegan omega 3, sorry didn't spot the vegetarian bit. I think it's from alge

I can 100% vouch for these vitamins

wearefeel.com/products/feel-pregnancy

I am still taking them at 37 weeks and feel great. I'm not tired, I'm still working, I haven't had any nausea since before I started taking them. I genuinely feel really well. I'm going to continue taking them for the next 6 months or so. Before these, I tried pregnacare tablets and the medicine. Also seven seas. They all made my morning sickness worse. These are a bit pricier but IMO very much worth it

Oh yeah forgot to mention this bit

"This product is vegan, allergen-free, gluten-free, cruelty-free, halal, kosher and non-GMO."

By the way I do not work for them 😂😂 I just feel really good and I'm so surprised cos I thought I'd be dead on my feet at this stage of pregnancy!!
