Strong cramps that relieve after the loo - 5 weeks pregnant

Hello dear ladies,

I am 5 weeks pregnant, and for one week I have been having ocasional strong cramps that I could say were from obstipation (even though I am going to the loo everyday ok), that relieve after going to the loo. I use to have bowel problems but now with pregnancy I think things got worse.

Does any of you have been through this in early pregnancy?

I am making this questions because I am looking for some relief... - I has pregnant a couple months ago, have extreme cramps that I couldnt even walk, and ended up in mc at 5 weeks.

This are by far not as strong as those, but still they are a little bit more than period cramps.

What did you do to make it better?

Thank you in advance!

I have IBS and it was really bad in week 5 for me too. Sorry for the TMI, but always having to get up multiple times in the night with severe IBS cramps, could sit on the loo for a good 30 mins before I could go and then they eased and I could go back to sleep. This only seemed to happen during week 5 for me, and I haven't had any IBS troubles since thankfully!

In the first trimester, there are a lot of changes going on in your body and it can really mess things about for a while!

Thank you very much! I have irritable colon, so I perfectly understand what you mean. I was happy for having this answer from a woman with IBS as well. Did you do anything special to help with that, or this pregnancy worsening of the IBS symptoms just went away with time?

As I lost my first, I am on a daily progesterone suppository use and I read that the progesterone slows down the bowel movement as well :/ but I can't stop, the well being of the little one is more important than my bowel's at the moment haha.

Lots of love!

@kbg1991 A mug of peppermint tea always seemed to help if I drank it just before I went to sleep, and even when I did get up in the night, it wasn't half as bad as if I didn't have anything. Other than that, I had nothing to help it and it eased after about a week. I had one small IBS episode in week 9 I think it was, but nothing else since (I am week 14 now).

But yeah, I would definitely recommend the cup of peppermint tea before bed x

Sorry to hear about the loss of your first LO Flowers
