Has anyone been able to bring their Covid vaccine second dose forward?

I'm currently 22+2 pregnant and had my first Covid vaccine 6.5 weeks ago.

I'm getting a bit worried about how pregnant people are the "new victim" of Covid and as I'm getting closer to the third trimester it's all becoming very real, and obviously with the restrictions easing and summer holidays, everywhere around me seems really crowded and I'm getting a bit worried.

I don't have an appointment for my second dose until September, but I tried to get one at a walk-in last week but they said I still have to wait 8 weeks.

I've seen some people on here being able to get theirs before the 8 weeks and just wondering how to do so? Did you speak to your GP/midwife - could they sort it?

Thank you

My second dose was originally booked 12 weeks after my first but I managed to get it after 8 weeks through the NHS booking system. I actually got a text message from the NHS telling me I could bring it forward at around 6 weeks post first dose.

Handily it also allows you to check what the availability is before you cancel your original appointment. There wasn't any availability straight away but I checked every day & booked it as soon as I could.

You could ask your midwife or GP and they may be able to help especially as you are approaching your third trimester.

You could check the Reddit getjabbed thread and see if there are any walk-ins nearby to you that offer it any sooner than 8 weeks.

This is what I ended up doing at just over 6 weeks since my first. It looks like lots of places are offering Pfizer walk-ins earlier than 8 weeks although it seems Moderna is slightly harder to find places that offer this so depends which one you had. I ended driving to a place offering walk-ins for second Moderna vaccines, had a little wait in a queue but glad I've got it done earlier as where I live is definitely a hotspot for Covid right now.

8 weeks is supposed to be the best time frame to get it for maximum protection so I would aim for that as it's only 1.5 weeks away for you.

Mine were originally 12 weeks apart but I moved my second one forwards to 8 weeks using the online system. I'll be 37 weeks when I have my second, at 22 weeks I wouldn't be too worried. Easier said than done though I know!
