Are the BabyBjorn baby carriers worth the price? I'm really wanting one that isn't a wrap sling this time but can't justify the price without hearing honest reviews!

I had an NCT Close caboo ring sling at first, was brilliant with a newborn.

The mini isn't great because it's narrow at the base and lacks a waistband so won't be that long lasting. The One is better buuuutt I didn't like it but I don't like bulky carriers at all, they don't work on my body (most ergo baby carriers are the same on me)

Really recommend a sling library, saved myself an expensive mistake buying a carrier that didn't suit me. There are postal libraries too if there not one local to you.

I then moved to an ergo!

I wouldn't spend the money on a babybjorn - they actually aren't very good for baby's hip placement... we got an Ergo baby 360 instead. It's better for baby's development and for me, it was worth every penny as they last for so long. Mine went in from a few weeks old with a newborn insert... and actually, I dug it out last week as she was feeling unwell and we had a long walk. She's 4 now and still fits! It's SOOOO much easier carrying them in a carrier than in your hands!

Can you see if you have a sling library near you to try before you buy?

MeadowHay · 01/08/2021 21:07

We've got the basic model, it was a hand me down. DH loved it and used it loads until DD was about 9mo when he found she was getting too heavy and then he started backcarrying with a LittleLife when she was 1. I didn't get on great with it on the other hand because of my stature, the straps just could not be tightened tight enough to fit me properly so the weight wasn't distributed too well so I could never carry her for long periods really.

My DH liked it but I never did and much preferred due close caboo sling. My torso is quite short so it always felt massive on me even when DC were newborn whereas DH is bigger so it worked for him

I have the Babybjorn One Air. We tried a few different carriers in the shop and liked it best. Also, once we were used to it we found it very easy to adjust between my husband's size and mine. DS always seemed comfortable when worn in front both parent facing and outward facing. However, he didn't like the position on our backs so we stopped using it earlier than I thought we would. We got a lot of use out of it when DS was between 5-10 months, both for trips into the city, hiking in the mountains and also travelling through airports. Felt more secure than a sling for being out and about. I did use it in the house sometimes when DS wouldn't settle, and although not as comfortable as a sling for relaxing it was fine for baby wearing while getting jobs done. For us it was worth the money.

If you do want one there are loads for sale on ebay.

Azilliondegrees · 01/08/2021 21:22

Yeah don’t bother with a bjorn. Had one given to us when pregnant with DC1, and did use it, though it was uncomfortable especially after he got past about 10 weeks.

With DC2 I discovered the sling library and carried him everywhere all the time. A revelation.

I had a ergobaby wrap and the 360. The wrap is ok but I only used it when my son was really young and usually inside. The 360 was good with the newborn insert and pretty comfy. However I hated the big Velcro waist strap - really annoying plus the carrier got so warm- not a problem for us with an October baby but one we got into spring I ordered the mesh bag Bjorn Air one and found it so much comfier and easier to wear. I’d highly recommend. I’d say it’s probably most useable from say 4-12 months

DappledThings · 01/08/2021 21:55

Definitely not, get a much better one. I've never seen a baby in a BB once who was actually in the right position.

I had a Beco Gemini. Used it for over 5 years over two children, both of them about 8 weeks to 3.5 years. Brilliant carrier.
