Any midwives around? Low lying placenta and previous PPROM

Are there any midwives or Obs/Gynae medics around who might be able to advise?

I'm 22 weeks pregnant with second baby. At 20 week scan, I found out I have a low lying placenta (partially obstructing cervix) and I'm now booked in for a repeat scan at 32 weeks. Not particularly concerned about this on its own, I know that it's highly likely my placenta will shift away over the next few weeks.

However, my waters broke at 34 weeks in my previous pregnancy. No cause was detected at the time, and no one seems particularly concerned about it this time. I'm not under consultant led care or anything, and no additional checks have been done.

Should I be worried about the low placenta given this PPROM history? I don't know if this is something I need to follow up with my midwife. The sonographer didn't say anything, but I don't know if she connected these two dots.

I guess I'm just concerned that, if my waters were to break early again and before the 32 week scan, an undiagnosed placenta praevia could be very dangerous. Do I need to ask for a follow up scan sooner?

Am I worrying over nothing? I'd never normally ask strangers on the Internet about stuff like this, but Dr Google isn't giving me anything and I dont know whether it's something to bother the midwife with before my next appointment with her in 4ish weeks time.

Grateful for any advice!

I think they would scan you if your waters went early and you would tell them at the time you're not sure if you still have placenta previa. So they would see at the scan, and then get an emergency csection I imagine? I would give your midwife a call tomorrow for reassurance.

@HalloHello that makes sense! Maybe I should call her, just to talk things through. I made the mistake of reading too much into placenta previa, and I'm suddenly feeling quite anxious!

Yeah I would call her, that's what she's there for. Your placenta position will be on your notes as well so it's very likely they'll be aware. If you do get PPROM again, just tell the person on the phone about the placenta previa too.
