Morning sickness gotten worse at 12 weeks??

Hi all
I'm 12 weeks pregnant with my first baby, I've suffered horrendously with nausea and vomiting since around week 4, but as I've turned 12 weeks it has gotten so severe I'm now struggling to keep anything down at all. I've been on 3 different types of anti sickness meds, none which have helped much. My go is very dismissive and says there isn't much more they can do for me anyway. I'm just so fed up of feeling so sick all the time, going to work and carrying out even the simplest of household tasks is completely exhausting me Sad I was so excited to get to this stage as I believed I'd start to feel better which was possibly a bit naive but I just feel so deflated as I feel 10x worse. Has anyone else experienced this at 12 weeks and when did it get better if it did at all? My fear is I will feel this way through the whole pregnancy Sad
xx

Yeah, I'm afraid mine lasted 5 months with my first. It did eventually fade but I have heard of it lasting the whole pregnancy for some women. If you think it might be HG then keep pushing your GP or get a second opinion.

Fingers crossed it doesn't last much longer for you, it really is horrible. Flowers

Also, for me things like lack of sleep or leaving breakfast too late could trigger nausea and vomiting.

Hiya @mumtobe251 it sounds like you've got Hyperemesis to me and there's a Hyperemesis support thread on here for us sufferers. If you're not keeping anything down, you must seek help. You'll need to check your urine for ketones and if you have them you might need IV fluid replacement. This happened to me in week 7. I am now 12 weeks too and I am still vomiting everyday despite taking 3 different pills. You have to take your anti sickness tablets absolutely religiously for them to be the most effective. Which ones are you on?

Mine lasted until about 20 weeks both times.

Mine got worse at 12 weeks, has gradually been getting better since about 14 weeks. I’m 16 weeks and still gag a lot but only tend to feel sick in the mornings.

Judging by my last pregnancy I expect it will be gone by 20 weeks or so.

Good luck! Definitely check out the links above for general advice. I also find this worse when I’m tired, hungry or stressed.

After a bad experience with my GP for my first pregnancy, I W called the antenatal ward at our hospital when I was pregnant with my second. They were amazing, I went straight in at 2am and was seen by an obstetrician who sorted out the medication. It’s really normal for them, they see it all the time so are much more experienced than GPs. Good luck

I was the same as you @mumtobe251 I was so excited to get to 12 weeks but that came and went without any let up. As pp said, the hyperemesis thread on here is a great support.
I started to feel better by about 20 weeks and was off all meds by 23 weeks. Now 37 weeks and still get regular nausea but doesn’t interrupt my day as such.
Hope you are feeling a bit better soon.

Hi OP, I'm 15 weeks and still needing at least 1 kind of anti-emetic each day but have good days and bad days (but definitely more good days in the last 1-2 weeks than I had been having before 12 weeks).
Chances are better days are not far around the corner for you so hold tight and go easy on yourself for now.

Up till 20 weeks for me.
I was prescribed cyclezine at 13 weeks by the midwives at the hospital. I asked the drs for another prescription and they were really reluctant. I would speak to your midwife rather than your gp.

F4iryLite · 04/08/2021 10:34

I'm 28 weeks and still being sick occasionally, but Cyclizine has been an absolute lifesaver.

If you haven't already, have a look at the Pregnancy Sickness Support charity, they have lots of advice and information you can take to your GP if they're not being supportive.

Some people need a combination of medication, and most of them take a while to build up in your system. You don't have to keep suffering, there's lots of help and support out there.

Good luck!
