What do I need for DC2?

DC1 is 23 months so we have a lot of baby stuff already but I keep feeling like I'm missing something for the new baby! We've got a second car seat and clothes but other than that, we haven't really bought anything.
I'm hoping to BF this time (didnt work last time so I have all the FF stuff if we need it) then eventually express some of the time so that other people can feed some bottles/I can take bottles when we are out and about. So I'm thinking I need to look at breast pumps but no idea where to start!

What did you buy for DC2?

A couple of things that I only learnt existed or understood too late for Dc1: fridge teethers, a mirror to see them when rear facing in the car, a downstairs Moses basket to save carrying it up and downstairs, a downstairs changing mat ditto.

Considering a double buggy as ds1 will be 3 but is lazy.

You don’t need much new for second unless anything has broken or worn out, especially if they are the same gender. It’s worth thinking about the seasons they were born in when you sort through stuff as mine have all been summer babies so far & DC4 is due Nov so I’ve bought a few cosy winter outfits in 0-3 size & passed onto a friend the little shortie rompers etc. You may need a 2nd baby monitor if you still use for DC1 & it’s nice to take them to choose a teddy for their new sibling.

I'm 36 weeks with a second girl and have bought absolutely nothing - I feel like I'm massively missing something!

Thank you both! Moses basket is a good idea, we didn't use one last time as DD is so tall but it would mean DC2 could nap out of reach of little hands. We've got a double pram sorted too as DD can't walk yet.
Seasons for clothes will be the same but they are different a sex, going to use seepsuits/vests etc for DS as a lot of them were neutral but a lot of the clothes from DD aren't much good.
Baby monitor is a great shout! Thanks!

@girlmom21 this is it, I probably don't need much but I keep thinking I'm missing something!

They recommend waiting until 6 weeks to start expressing milk unless you have issues feeding, so I would hold off on the pump to see how you get on.

I had a medela electric pump, which I swore by. They are expensive, but I used it every day for over a year so it more than paid for itself!

Maybe consider a travel cot/ pack and play for downstairs like this - means out of the reach of little hands if you pop to the loo! www.mamasandpapas.com/products/joie-commuter-travel-cot-change-bounce-starry-night-599012b00?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shoppingiq&utm_campaign=shoppingiqfeed&utm_content=shoppingseo

There is a good book called mixed up which is all about combo feeding if you want to have a read.

I feel very much the same! There was so much to prepare with the last one that preparing very little for this one feels a bit wrong, but we really can reuse a lot of things and I think you realise that the shops don't close and you can get things later as well.

I actually got rid of some stuff we never used like the baby bath etc.

We did get a new cot as DS is still using his, some new clothes although reusing 90%, nappies as using disposables, new dummies and will replace bottle teats if we reuse them.

I didn't like DS's bouncer so planned to replace that but DH reckons it's a waste of space so I'm waiting until we need it!

Got a bigger changing bag to fit 2 kids worth of stuff in and some warmer sling friendly clothing in the hope I can use the sling more this winter.

Replaced some muslins and flannels which had gone a bit stiff or stinky.

@Hunkydory99 thanks, that looks like a good idea! My DD is quite heavy handed so definitely need something to keep him out of reach.

@BertieBotts thanks for the book recommendation, will definitely look into it! We aren't sure if we will need a cot or not, hoping by the time baby is old enough to move out of our room, DD might be able to move into a bed.

Thanks @SillyBry might look into pumps so I have one in mind but as you say, not buy one until I need it!
