So worried. Just had a positive pregnancy test (or five tests to confirm) that I am pregnant again at 48. I have two other children born in my forties. First planned at 40, second a surprise miracle at 46. Both healthy and incredibly advanced for their ages. Anyone had a good outcome with a natural pregnancy this late. I really don't know what to do. I will have the harmony blood test, but even if this is okay, I'm not sure I can go through with this pregnancy. Anyone been in a similar situation. Advice desperately needed. Thank you. So happy with the two I have got, but terrified of having another when I will be 49.

It’s been a while since this post was made, and I hope you are with a healthy outcome…. I’m answering anyway. It is so rare that women have the fertility at that age but it can and does happen. I’ve had doctors and nurses tell me it’s more common than one would think. Anicdotaly My families ancestral charts showed that many women on one side of my family had healthy babies in their late fourties’ for generations even when pregnancy was a risky venture. My Mother’s side (grandfathers mother I believe she may have had Nordic German ancestry) had that genetic line and as it turned out my mom went through menopause at about age 63. Very late onset of menopause and she also was tested in Research studies on late stage fertility, all of her labs showed she was still ovulating and “fertile” still pre-menopausal in her late 50’s. I’ve read it’s like only 2% of the population that has this happen. I’d love to hear how this pregnancy turned out and if you had any more reminders of that kind of experience. Gods gift of a healthy fertile body later in life. Blessings too you.

Rothe your post* *is very enlightening. I had my only when I was a few months off 41. Perfectly healthy and low abnormality results. I'm now 52 and going through peri. Albeit very slowly. I still have what feels like ovulation every cycle and almost all my periods are regular. In fact I feel like my body is in over drive! DH has always wanted another child but it never happened..
I think my body wants it desperately but my eggs aren't viable.
