About Covid vaccine

There is a huge debate about the effects of the Covid vaccine on teenagers. I am pregnant and I would like to take the Covid vaccine... however why all this worry about vaccinating teenagers when pregnant women are advised to vaccinate and pass the antibodies to the unborn. Isn't this an inconsistency?

The issue with the teenagers is that they are in general at lower risk of getting severe forms of Covid, so it's a different balance of risk - do those risks outweigh the small risk of vaccine side effects? Whereas pregnant women are known to be more at risk from Covid in the 3rd trimester (more likely to deliver early, increased risk of stillbirth, increased likelihood of ending up in intensive care).

I think that the advice to be vaccinated in pregnancy it's more about giving extra protection, especially during the third trimester, than it is about passing antibodies onto baby which I just see as a bonus!

Pregnant women are much more at risk from covid than teenagers.

This.

It still winds me up no end that pregnant women obviously aren’t receiving the right advice. Why isn’t the message getting through?

Read this update from a doctor at my local hospital. He’s really excellent and explains why pregnant women should be vaccinated.
