hi, I feel like the only person in the world suffering from this and it's embarrassing but I need some advice or positive stories or just hand holding really!

Basically, I am 13 weeks pregnant and I think I have vulvodynia. I've had it since before I became pregnant, what really set it off was stress and grief coupled with some aggressive thrush treatment (when I'm not actually sure there was ever any thrush, which I'm angry at my GP about for not swabbing before prescribing a million pessaries and creams).

I am losing my mind as I am constantly burning, itching and uncomfortable down there...I can't find relief and most of the treatments usually prescribed are contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

I finally managed to see a specialist the other day after a long waiting list, and she prescribed me Dermovate steroid ointment to use down there. She said it was safe to use but I'm not sure??? It's a potent steroid and everything I can find online says to avoid potent steroids. I'm super hesitant about using it.
I'm also not sure it would even help - she said I don't have any visible irritation or skin problem down there, so I'm not sure how a strong steroid would help and could it not only make it worse? Does anyone have any experience with any of this? I'm going mad with all of it and just want my normal vagina back!

I don’t have any advice but sounds horrid so sending hugs 😘

Presumably the specialist knew you were pregnant so would have checked the cream was ok to use?

You’ve probably already tried but I found natural yoghurt applied topically and cold compresses soothing & cooling for thrush so would that give you any relief in the mean time?

thanks @sparklyblue81 💕
yes the specialist did know, but I'm just really paranoid...my last pregnancy devastatingly ended in stillbirth so I'm so incredibly anxious this time round, so when I see anything that says 'not recommended in pregnancy' I panic
I have found cold compresses helpful. I'll give the yogurt a go as well, sounds soothing!
