Baby hasn't ever really been a kicker...29 weeks

This is my first pregnancy so I don't really know what's normal but did anyone else ever have a baby that just didn't really kick?

I'm not worried about movements as I feel her really often but it's more of a wiggle where if I watch my stomach I'll see it go in a bit of a wave but have only really had a few kick feelings since starting to feel her move at 19 weeks.

Is this normal?

My son was exactly the same and I worried continuously! He was fine and has literally never stopped moving for the past 12 years!

Amazing thank you, can't wait for that 😂

I've been using the kicks count app but felt a bit silly logging a wriggle and felt I wasn't using it in the way it was supposed to if that makes sense?

My third pregnancy was like this and it was because I had an anterior placenta- the placenta was right behind my belly button cushioning all the kicks. Maybe check your notes to see where your placenta is?

Morph2lcfc · 27/07/2021 09:42

Mine was the same, I also had the placenta at the front

DD was the same. She was small but I don't know whether that's why. Perfectly healthy though, and now, at 8 months, crawling and climbing all over the place.

My DD was exactly the same and I worried constantly. I also had an anterior placenta cushioning all the kicks and movements. I used to read all the guidance that said 'if you notice a change in pattern or reduced movements, get checked over' but there wasn't much info for if the baby just didn't kick much in general.
All was fine with DD at scans and I could see her on the monitor moving away happily, I just couldn't feel anything.
If you're worried it's definitely worth mentioning to your midwife though OP. Mine was very reassuring when I spoke to her.

It probably means he back is facing your front which is good anyway, better for birth.

Don't worry, it's about keeping track of your baby's normal movement and keeping an eye out for change. Not all babies will move in the same way as each other.

I mentioned this to my midwife and she said it’s normal, that’s why they say to count movements now, not ‘kicks’ Smile

I never really had a 'pattern' of movements. I said this at my 36 week appointment and midwife said that some people never do get a pattern.
