Changes in movement

Hoping someone can help as struggling to find any similar threads or info on google. Im 26 weeks with my first and have been feeling movement since about 18 weeks. At around 20 weeks they started to feel more like kicks rather than just flutters, getting stronger and more frequent every day. Now for the last few days, still feeling movement but more like he's rolling around rather than kicks. Also, the bit that's confusing me is a lot of the time I sit and watch my belly and can see him moving quite a bit but I can't actually feel it?! Whereas I thought the kicks would continue to get stronger. I'm not worried as such as I can see he is moving, just wondering if anyone else has had this experience?

If you feel there is any change contact the hospital and they'll get you in to have a little listen. They won't think you're wasting their time and rather check you multiple times x

OhhHelloThere · 26/07/2021 21:11

Any slight change needs to be checked x

I'm not worried as he's moving now as I type this, but sometimes I can see him move but not feel it, that's what I'm curious about x

Hmm I'm not sure. I usually felt all mine. If it were me I'd phone just to ask they're great for reassurance x

Sorry I don't think I've worded this well lol
My movement is fine, as in the movement i can actually feel is perfectly normal pattern for me. All im saying is ive noticed additional movement on top of that, that ive never noticed before because i physically cant always feel it. Just find it odd that I wouldn't feel movement like that internally, wondering if it's just his position? As I have a posterior placenta. Sorry if ive not made myself clear In previous posts x

It’s probably the position of your placenta. If you have your placenta towards your front (anterior), it cushions the movements so you feel less. It’s pretty common and, as you clearly already know, what matters is what’s normal for you.

lockdownbabyx · 26/07/2021 21:28

Thanks @Constantcrayfish I have a posterior placenta, so maybe it's just his position? I'm not worried like I said, just curious ☺️

Same for me, if I lie with my hand on my belly I'll feel additional lighter movements that I wouldn't feel from the inside. Or sometimes when my husband has his hand on my belly I have to ask if he's feeling anything because I could be missing kicks myself!

No idea why. I've noticed this since I first started being able to feel kicks from the outside around 24 weeks. I'm 29+5 now. I do feel plenty of internal movement too but I can feel extra movements with my handover! Oh and I also have a posterior placenta.

lockdownbabyx · 26/07/2021 21:55

@shivawn yes the exact same with me! I make more effort to have my hands on my stomach now so I feel everything haha. Strange though isn't it? Glad I'm not alone. Especially with a posterior placenta, must be do do with their position xx

Yeah no clue! I actually just tried googling it there but it's hard to even know what to Google to get the right results haha! Like you, I'm not worried about it, just curious really!

Juicytoot287 · 26/07/2021 22:20

Oh OP I am the same! 26 weeks as well with posterior placenta. It is hard to explain to people when I say, they are as often as always and the same pattern but just feel different. Like not always as "kicky". It is really confusing to know. I did call hospital about it last week and they said as long as the pattern and frequency is the same, the strength/ type isn't much of an issue this stage as they could be facing backward or whatever.
Obviously, if you get concerned definitely call yourself but it is reassuring to me so see someone feeling similar! Been working myself up to whether its just me being over sensitive as I still feel her moving just in different ways or strengths lol!

LunaDreams · 27/07/2021 06:55

I'm 30 weeks with a posterior placenta and I remember baby's movements going from a kicking to more of a rolling motion around 26 weeks.

Even know he can get into positions where I can't feel it as much internally but can feel it/see it externally. Frequency and patterns still the same, he's obviously just shifted in there!

All a bit odd really 😅
