Excruciating lower back joint pain

Currently sitting up in bed (37 weeks pregnant having baby by ELC at 39 weeks so 2 weeks to go).

I'm sat up in agony sobbing through this excruciating pain in my lower back/glute area. I've had a niggly pain there for a while now and also had it with my 1st DS but after walking around a few shops yesterday it has become agony. I've never experienced it this bad in my life. Turning left and right in the night has caused me to scream in pain.

I'm usually one to crack on when something hurts and just get over it, but this is the most painful thing I've experienced.

Seeing midwife Monday, but not sure what she could advise. I doubt I'll be able to have any physio within these two weeks? Plus I can't even imagine being able to get out of bed if I'm honest to visit the MW or physio.

I've gotten up for the usual 1000 of wees this eve and I feel like my pelvis is going to break.

Anyone else had this or have this any advice to ease this pain?

Pretty please it's the worst pain 😭

Are you sure it’s not contractions?

lukiebebe · 25/07/2021 07:20

Hi @BikeRunSki
No I remember contractions with Ds1.. this pain is in my glute/pelvis and it's there all the time and every time I step on my right foot or move to the right it's agony :(

Sounds like sciatica or sacroiliac joint pain, can you contact local osteopaths or deep tissue masseuse and see if they could fit you in tomorrow as it's so sore and you're very pregnant? My local ones would and have done that for me and others.

Garman · 25/07/2021 10:30

Also painkillers and ice the area for now.

Garman · 25/07/2021 10:32

Reading your last comment it definitely sounds like obvious sciatica if it's running down your leg. Ask midwife for urgent physio as well as the other things I suggested, might as well ask her but they'd help without physio anyway.

Get some painkillers. I believe midwives can prescribe cocodamol. One gave me some when I was in early labour anyway Grin

India999 · 25/07/2021 11:07

Sounds like sciatica!

lukiebebe · 25/07/2021 11:17

Thanks guys!! Ive currently got an ice pack on the area hoping this eases it! Will take some paracetamol first and see how I go!
Googled a local chiropractor who specialises with pregnant ladies! Will ask midwife at tomorrow's appt if she thinks that may be a good idea!
Gosh it's awful! Thanks guys so much for advice!

Sounds like Spd in your secrolliac joints plus sciatica if you have been having twinges for a while.

Try and get in with a private physio ASAP - look up the pelvic partnership online - you might be able to find someone local who can help release the joints/glutes.
Assessment with mine cost about £50 but was definitely worth it and has helped loads as I was having spasms where I would stand up and suddenly be unable to walk and I’m only 5 months

lukiebebe · 25/07/2021 11:30

@Panda368 thanks a lot for this I'm literally going to call around tomorrow and beg for help. Good to know there's an actual website for women like us who are suffering so bad! X

I get this horribly toward the end of pregnancy. Luckily it goes away almost immediately once I deliver.

I have one of these for it. Helps somewhat, makes the pain manageable again at least.

Try an osteopath rather than a chiropractor, deep tissue massage really helps me.

lukiebebe · 25/07/2021 12:26

Update: ice has helped! I feel a little more mobile now. I can still feel it and it hurts but no where near as earlier! I've taken a paracetamol too so hopefully that'll help some what! I'm going to continue with ice every few hours!

@Garman ah okay! Good to know thanks!

@AndSoFinally thanks I'll look into this 👍☺️
