How long can spotting last in the first trimester?

How long can spotting last in the first trimester? I'm 8 weeks and had lots of spotting/very light bleeding, I've spoken to my midwife about it and she sent me for an internal scan and everything was good with baby! However, I've been spotting for nearly 2 weeks, is this usual?

@Mamdraig3
Hopefully nothing to worry about as long as it does not get heavy, I have been pregnant 4 times not including a cp and each time have spotted and each time I lost the baby but bleeding is not always bad, where you measuring correct for dates.

I spotted well into my 2nd trimester and currently 30 weeks pregnant with a healthy looking baby boy.

It was terrifying at times as sometimes the spotting was pink or red, although mostly brown. They eventually put it down to ectropian/cervical irritation. It doesn't ways mean something bad is about to happen.

It's good that your scan was OK. Good luck with the rest of your pregancy x

I bled from 7-14 weeks this pregnancy and quite a large gush like bleed just before my 12 week scan which was terrifying.
I’m now 28 weeks with DS2 and no obvious cause for the bleeding, just “one of them things” which is in no way reassuring Confused

I’ve spotted this pregnancy, mostly brown and only ever when I wiped. I had an early scan where we saw baby + heart beat. I’ve got a small haematoma (defo haven’t spelt that right!) underneath the gestational sac. I had to ask to be told that (specifically asked if there was any bleeding due to experiencing spotting). I was told around 2/3rds of women have them and many do not know. As long as the bleeding isn’t heavy and isn’t accompanied by pain there shouldn’t be too much to worry about. Do you think it’s worth contacting your local EPU to see if they’ll do a scan?

Sorry! Just reread your post - you’ve already had a scan! If everything was looking good and no one seemed overly concerned I’d try not to worry too much and take it as easy as you can. Best of luck to you!xx

If they’ve done a scan and not found evidence of a haematoma, it’s likely to be your cervix - mine was irritated throughout the first trimester and spotted, but nothing since Smile

I first started brown spotting at 6 weeks. Since then I've had brown spotting and bright red fresh blood (currently experiencing this, again) on and off. I've had 3 scans over the past 5 weeks and we are now at week 13. Baby is developing great, no issues found. At the by dating scan I believe they could see where the current bleed was coming from, they weren't concerned. It has become usual for me to see blood now, I no longer panic when I see it.
