I might sound silly but-
I’m 36 weeks pregnant and baby hiccups 3+ times a day Iv been reading and it says it could be a problem with the cord?! Absolutely petrified myself and my boyfriend as it’s baby number 1 and we’ve had a dream of a pregnancy but now worrying about this! Any help
Thanks!

If you are at all worried about baby movements, get checked. No point in sitting fretting.

Having said that, I've never heard any one say that fetal hiccups are bad news, and a quick Google seems to say all normal but of course get checked it concerned.

I'm 35 weeks and my baby gets hiccups around 3 times a day too (that I notice) this is my second baby and my first was exactly the same, whenever I mention it to my midwife (I really dislike the feeling of them) she's never seemed concerned, just laughs with me about it.

If it's something on your mind worrying you I would just give your midwife a call to make yourself feel better and relax x

Where did you read that?

I'm 36+2 and our baby gets hiccups multiple times a day, I had a scan on Monday and the cord blood flow was really good. This is baby 6 for us, our others would hiccup lots too.

Thankyou everyone! I think because everything has gone so nicely till now when I read about the hiccups it scared me! I learnt from day one not to google and I did well till this week! I’m one of 7 chelyanne I think my mum thought I was going insane when I suggested it to her! 4 weeks left I’ll keep off google now!
Garman I’m not sure where just one of the many sites I will of clicked on whilst panicking myself!
Thankyou everyone again!

Hiccups are very normal, you can always contact midwife if concerned though. My daughter had them all the time! They are linked to reflux in some babies, which she had.

Moominmiss · 23/07/2021 12:10

I’m 32 weeks and my baby also gets hiccups multiple times a day. He has them now as I wrote this! Lol.

This is baby number 4 for me and while I do remember getting them with all the babies, I remember getting them most frequently with my second baby, she turned out to have reflux. I always wondered if it was linked. I’m sort of expecting that this baby might also have reflux. Keeping 🤞🏻 not though as it was hell on earth lol.

I had the same OP, and read the same warning as you, but there doesn't seem to be much actual evidence for it when you go looking (I seem to remember something about studies done on sheep...). My DD was born perfectly healthy, and at nearly 8w still gets hiccups every day!

Pinkflipflop85 · 23/07/2021 13:09

The problem with reading something on a random site is that people cab literally state whatever made up crap they want to.

I'm always one for a Google when I'm worried about something but try to stick to things like NHS or Webmd.

Anecdotally my dd hiccuped a hell of a lot more than ds did. Ds had a cord that was far too short for a vaginal birth and was delivered by crash section.

I started having this feeling right after 31 weeks and felt baby jump with each pulsation. It’s probably hiccups, totally normal. Was freaked out by the cord stuff but this scientific article has been so reassuring which states that a daily perception of hiccups is associated with a reduced risk of stillbirth. Just keep a lookout for usual pattern of baby movements, as long as those are still taking place then everything should be fine smile www.nature.com/articles/s41598-019-46323-4
