Hi,

Hope this is ok to post here since I'm not currently pregnant but looking for some experiences/input on this!

I'm now on cycle 13 after losing our wee boy halfway through our pregnancy last July due to placental abruption. In the past year I have tried EVERYTHING - SMEP, Preseed, Conceive Plus, omega 3 capsules, pineapples, hot water bottles on your feet...everything 😂 It's been incredibly difficult and we're just willing to try anything at this point.

The one thing I haven't tried yet is baby aspirin. I've read a lot of positive stories about women getting their BFPs after having taken it but I'm unclear on the ins and outs?

Did you take it from CD1? After ovulation? Did you stop after you got your BFP or continue to take it?

Thank you so much and wishing a happy and healthy nine months to all of you here 💕

I started taking 150mg aspirin after 4 consecutive miscarriages.

I started taking it 1dpo and am now currently nearly 32 weeks pregnant. I was advised by my midwife and consultant to continue taking it until a week before my scheduled c section.

Sorry for your loss OP. Flowers

Have you had any investigations for sub-fertility? Any clotting factor blood tests? As you've been TTC again for 12mths, you qualify to have tests done (if in the UK?).

I wouldn't just start taking aspirin without it being prescribed after certain tests. In general, its prescribed early on with women with certain clotting disorders, and later in pregnancy to reduce the change of pre-eclampsia.

KerryW87 · 22/07/2021 18:06

@Eleoura Thank you ❤️

I had day 21 bloods done which have come back fine, partner had an SA which showed an issue with viscosity but apparently it isn't a major issue. We are awaiting an appointment for a fertility clinic now that it's been a year but my smear results came back with some issues last month and I had a colposcopy and some cells burned out last week, so I think it's on hold until that's cleared up.

I understand what you're saying, of course. Think it's just hard not to clutch at straws a bit, and I wondered if perhaps a clot could've been the reason the placenta abrupted but we didn't opt for a post mortem on my son so to be honest I have no real grounds to make that conclusion.

Thanks very much for replying ❤️ x

@Moominmiss Oh I can't even imagine going through the pain of four losses, I'm so sorry to hear that 💐

Congratulations on your pregnancy now, I'm so glad aspirin has worked for you! 💕 I did hear before that aspirin can interfere with ovulation so it would make sense that 1DPO is a safer bet. Thanks very much x

@KerryW87 I think we were on another thread together a few months ago. I think we'd had some similar cycle problems at the time. I hope you don't mind me saying, as it wasn't what you asked, but fertility acupuncture was what worked for me in the end to balance hormones and get better blood flow to the ovaries and uterus. Just mentioning in case it's something you wanted to try. As I wasn't really aware of it until someone mentioned it to me and I looked into it further. After months and months of nothing I got pregnant after a month of sessions. I was thinking about baby aspirin but didn't get around to it - a low dose doesn't seem harmful and it seems a lot of people do take it under doctor care also

KerryW87 · 22/07/2021 20:47

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Hi! Ah we would've been; I was active on this loads and then had to force myself to take a break because it was just getting too difficult.

Oh god really? How often were you going for sessions within that month? I work part time and so money is not in abundance but I would find a way to put some by every week if there was even a chance it would help things along! Cannot believe it's been 13 cycles. Also I'm so glad it worked for you! 💕 How far along are you? Congratulations and thanks so much for replying, I'm going to look into it :) x

@KerryW87 I booked a course of six and was pregnant by the fourth session. I started a thread on here to ask about it, and a lot( not all) had positive experience in getting pregnant. It might just be something to look into and see if you think it'll work for you and worth the money - I don't think my hormones had rebalanced even tho it was 8 months after my (much earlier) mc.
Im almost 12 weeks now and hoping this one works out

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 22/07/2021 21:02

@KerryW87 sorry I went weekly for the 1st six! But others went a week before ovulation and a week after ovulation (so twice a month) and still got results. You'd want a good recommendation for fertility in your area if you did go ahead

lockdownbabyx · 22/07/2021 21:33

@KerryW87 Firstly I'm so sorry for your loss, can't imagine how awful that must of been 😢.

After 3 losses I decided to start taking 150mg aspirin from 1dpo. It was the only thing I did different and this pregnancy has been different from the get go. I got my BPF pretty early at 9dpo, test lines were super strong whereas before I always had faint positives. I'm now almost 26 weeks pregnant and everything so far is perfect. I did a lot of research before taking it and to me it was worth the risk. I told my midwife and GP I was was taking it and they both were not worried at all and said I'm fine to continue. A lot of woman are prescribed it even after their tests come back normal! With the "it can't hurt" attitude. I was told to stop taking it at 12 weeks, however I was terrified to stop 🤦🏻‍♀️. So my midwife said it won't do me any harm to continue it, as long as I stop by 34-36 weeks. Xx

KerryW87 · 22/07/2021 21:41

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Ah thank you so much for this, I'm going to do some research and see if there are any reputable places nearby that deal with fertility acupuncture! Anything is worth a try, isn't it?

Congratulations again and I'm sure you have a happy and healthy pregnancy ahead of you! 💕 x

The only reason I say to wait before starting yourself on aspirin, is what my consultant said. After 2 MC's, my 3rd pregnancy was via IVF. During the initial consult, there was a mention of aspirin, and nothing more was said. Months later when I actually was pregnant, I asked when and if I start. The person on the phone said to start. I was 5 weeks then.

Unfortunately at 9 weeks, I started bleeding. The consultant said to stop the aspirin immediately, implied that I shouldn't have started aspirin till much later in the pregnancy and that it might have been a trigger for the MC!!! I did have genetic tests done, and the MC cause was an abnormality of the foetus, and nothing to do with me taking aspirin, but it was a worry.

Of course some women do have success with aspirin, but more so seem to have success with progesterone. Have you read the book 'It start with an egg'? Certainly worth a read. I just bought a 2nd hand copy from ebay, but make sure its the later version. best of luck.

@lockdownbabyx

Thank you so much. To be honest, I've never experienced anything worse. His birthday was on Monday and it's just a very surreal feeling, but I've got to try and stay hopeful and keep trying and have a focus :)

Oh wow, that's so fantastic! I'm so sorry to hear of your losses ❤️❤️ That must've been bloody awful, so I'm so glad to hear that you're now 26 weeks pregnant! I honestly feel like I've tried everything else and after having to stop for a month because of the whole pre-cancerous cells nonsense I just want to try my best this cycle now we can try again!

Thank you so much for replying and I'm genuinely so happy to hear that everything is going well for you 💕 x

@Eleoura Oh god, really? That must've been so frightening for you, I'm so sorry :(

I can completely see it from your point of view then. It's just madness trying to conceive, isn't it? You definitely do feel reckless at times considering all these things and you can recognise it's out of total desperation...so that's why it's so valuable to hear all angles on it. I would hate to think it could end up causing more harm than good.

Oh I haven't, I'll have a look into that and maybe pick up a copy! Thank you so much for all the advice :) x

@KerryW87 you've had such a rough year and this week must have been really awful emotionally xxx I'm so sorry.

Seconding It Starts With the Egg, I found the book great, and put myself on the intermediate plan. Got mine cheap on a kindle.

KerryW87 · 23/07/2021 09:08

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Ah thank you so much, I appreciate that ❤️

I think I'll need to get this book, thanks for recommending it! x

I was told by my GP to take it when I had my very first appointment, about a fortnight after my missed period. I had four miscarriages before that and had never got past 10 weeks with a pregnancy.
I took the asprin until about 24 weeks and then was told to stop taking it, I don't know why, nothing was going wrong.
My daughter was born by emergency C/S early at 31 weeks and 5 days because my waters had broke about four weeks before and I was leaking amniotic fluid everytime I moved. I had told my midwife about it but every time I mentioned it she said it was normal to have a weak bladder by this point, annoying now with hindsight but I can see why she thought that's all it was.

I don't think, or at least hope not (from the many positive stories I've read about it) that asprin was the reason I had a problem but I've often wondered if stopping it at 24 weeks caused the initial breaking of waters, it might just have been a coincidence with timing.

I'm currently TTC after a year with one 'pregnancy of an unknown location' at six months in which I think was another miscarriage that was just still showing on the home test kits and at hospital later that week, it was confirmed as another miscarriage a week later when I had more blood tests and it showed very low HCG.

I've been on asprin now for four days and only decided randomly since finding some in a drawer I had forgotten about, since then I've read so many stories about how much it's worked for people. I really want to thank my doctor for suggesting it.
I'm on cycle day 18 of a 31 day cycle so trying not to get so excited but if this works for me for trying to conceive I will be so happy.

So lovely reading everyone's stories when it's worked.

Hi Op

I'm sorry for your loss and that ttc is taking so long now.

I've been on low-dose aspirin in an IVF pregnancy - prescribed to take from during cycle and continue through until 12 weeks. I started bleeding at 10 weeks (sub-chorionic hematoma) was told to stop aspirin immediately- pregnancy continued on successfully to term- I took progesterone until 20 weeks

This time around trying to conceive naturally, I had two early miscarriages in a row. I tried high dose ubiquinol (for egg quality), proceive advanced max and Myo-inositol (for hormones and egg quality as PCOS in my family and
N acetyl cysteine (nac)for recurrent miscarriage prevention- it reduces inflammation) I was conceiving easily every 3rd cycle but wasn't keeping the pregnancies.

For the third pregnancy in an 8 month time period (currently 23 weeks) I had been taking low dose aspirin 75mg since immediately after 2nd miscarriage. I continued after a positive pregnancy test until I had spotting at 7 weeks. I stopped aspirin when spotting began.
I'm now on 150mg of aspirin since 15 weeks as per the consultant's recommendation to reduce risk of pre-eclampsia.

I'm on progesterone for all of my pregnancies expect the first miscarriage.
Aspirin and n-acetyl cysteine help reduce inflammation all over the body including the uterus which helps if the problem is an inflammatory response, also aspirin helps with clotting risk and improves blood flow.

I do my own research but I also discuss with medical professionals and got progesterone prescribed by a private clinic.

I have a problem with low progesterone but both my pregnancies that have continued are the ones where I was taking aspirin prior to a positive pregnancy test and started progesterone before or immediately upon bfp.
