Pelvic girdle pain

Hiya everyone :)

I’m currently 15 weeks with my first baby.
For the last few weeks I’ve had the left side of my body (thigh, bum, lower back) in pain and it’s got to the point where I can’t walk, sit on the toilet or even turn over in bed!

I’m waiting to see my midwife but the NHS 111 said it may be pelvic girdle pain.
Can anyone offer advice or their experience if anyone on here has had the same and whether it gets better?x

Pelvic girdle pain will get better if you rest more, strain less, take your vitamins. But in my experience it tends to be pretty uniform on both sides.

I always got it slightly worse on my right. My SI joint on the right is 'sticky', according to my osteopath.

It may or may not be pelvic girdle pain. The pelvic partnership website has all the info that you could ever want on pgp, including on treatment options.

Have had it with all three pregnancies, albeit not really until my final trimester, so you have my complete sympathy.

In my experience, it doesn’t really get better as such, but you can do things to slow it down and get some relief. For me, weekly sessions with a women’s health physio have been a life saver - a brutal massage to release some tension, teaching me exercises to do at home, and a lot of kinesiology tape around my hips, bump and lower back.

I can also recommend sleeping with a decent pregnancy pillow, or at least a pillow between your knees, swiveling out of your car (rather than swinging one leg out at a time), a bag of frozen peas down the front of your knickers when you’re watching TV in the evening and always sitting down to put your pants on, rather than hopping around on one leg!

Get help now!!

A decent physio - the nhs ones i had were useless just gave me tubigrip to put round my hips!

Osteopath sessions.

See if a good pilates trainer can do a one to one with you.

Good luck!!!
