16 week gender scan confusion! Help!

Hey everyone

I had a 16 week scan the other day and we did the gender reveal today and I saw the ‘potty shot’. It doesn’t look like the potty shot I have seen before, and looks like it’s more of a side view. I’m just wondering what they have pointed out to be the penis has a line going down the middle and looks a lot bigger than other penis shots I’ve seen!! Is this normal? What is the line down the middle? They didn’t flag up any concerns at the scan!! Has anyone who had boy scans had something similar?

Gender scan should be scan between baby's legs.

Hi @Tryingandhopeful I've just had a look at my 16 week scan with DS and he has the same line. Not sure what it is but must be normal as he's 13 months now and perfect 🥰

@HPmagic that’s what I thought!! Hubby thinks the penis looks like it’s in the wrong position on this scan as legs look lower down? He thinks bits coming from the stomach area but I can’t really tell!!

@Tryingandhopeful yeah it was but mine wasn't a specific scan to find out the sex, the sonographer just asked if I wanted to know as it was so obvious (apparently). I wouldn't have known lol x

Aww I can’t really tell either from yours 🙈 is it this circled bit? I feel like the scan angle that mine is showing is so odd! Not seen an image like it!

Sorry, I'm on my iPad and don't know how to circle it. I think the bit you've circled is his foot (could be wrong though).

It's the bit just down from that and in a bit x

Aww thank you @hoppandskip!! That looks a bit more like a potty shot that I’ve seen!! I think it threw me when they put the ‘it’s a boy’ bit by the other part!! So what is that mass area by the leg and what is that bit they say is the penis area?

@H8theW8 haha oh yeh I see what you mean!! Lol I’m obviously no good with interpreting these scans!! Haha I shouldn’t of made it a surprise and should have got the sonographer to explain what was what in the room 😂🙈 3 weeks until my 20 week scan so all will be confirmed!!

Just checked back, OP. Looks like you’re having a boy!! I’m dying to get a gender scan but can’t find one at the right time nearby.

I was told at 16 week scan that I’m having a girl! However all my previous girls has really clear 3 lines.

I’ve seen online that girls are easily mistaken for boys. What do you think?

@Sweetieheart16 your scan does look like a girl! Although you’re right it can change but I’m pretty sure it’s a girl.

@Sungeda yours looks like a boy 💙 did they tell you the gender?

They didn't seem
100% sure during the scan so thought I'd get some opinions.

Also this was a early 16 week scan so haven't had the official 20 week scan yet.

This was my boys potty shot at 16+4, I'm now 28 weeks. No mistaking that winky though 😂

Defo not mistaking that yours is a boy! Look more defined than my scan. Sometimes u hear these stories where they get it so wrong. Congrats!

First of all Congratulations! 🙂

Personally I can never see anything on scans (have 3 sons) but at my 20week scan with DS no3 (few months ago) the sonographer said that it's actually unlikely to see a penis and it's the testicles they can clearly see to confirm the sex.
