Should I take low dose aspirin?

I don't have a midwife yet (I think one is calling me in 3 weeks) and I haven't involved my surgery at all in this pregnancy but I have two moderate risk factors for pre-eclampsia- 40+ and 10 years since my last bubba

Should I start taking 75mg now? I'm 14 weeks. Bit confused about who is in charge of my care!

It's a bit wierd that you haven't had a 12 week scan, you should have had a midwife app by now as well. I personally wouldn't start taking anything until my blood pressure, urine and blood tests were done. Call the hospital and chase them!

I’m taking 150mg for the same reasons. I would call dr ASAP or midwife or just someone who can help as the benefits of aspirin happen if you’ve been taking them as close to 12 weeks as possible. Plus, no 12 week scan? Are you in the UK?

DoodleBelle · 15/07/2021 19:36

You should have had an appointment and a scan by now, chase up with your midwife ASAP.

ChikiTIKI · 15/07/2021 20:00

Yeah sounds like you meet a few of the criteria that were in the checklist of my booking in appointment, so I would.

thecapitalsunited · 15/07/2021 20:38

Please do chase up the midwives because you should have had two midwifes appointments and a scan by the time three weeks have gone past.

I’m on 150mg a day and was told to start taking it at 12 weeks. You have two of the risk factors but you shouldn’t be deciding to take something without consulting medical professionals.

I've had a scan but haven't seen a midwife yet - the first appointment is in 3 weeks. Perhaps I should ask the doctor...

Thanks ladies x

@Confused521 I'd definitely suggest you call the GP explain your history & have yourself referred to a consultant just like myself. This way you're under regular care along with the correct dosage of medications

thecapitalsunited · 16/07/2021 07:38

Are you somewhere that booking appointments are still being done remotely? If you have the midwifes details then ask her or phone your GP and say that you’ve realised that you fall under these guidelines and can they prescribe.

Confused521 · 16/07/2021 07:48

Yes. All done by phone. I have the initial booking appointment with 'the team' and she went through medical history and didn't flag up anything. I'm going to call the doc today as I've also had a headache for a few days!
