Anyone else struggling with only one downstairs toilet?!

As the title says really, my house has one toilet, downstairs.

Great during the day, not much fun through the night when I can easily be up 2-3 times Grin

Also thinking ahead has me worried, looking like I'll be having an ELCS and no idea how I'll manage the first couple of weeks 🤷🏼‍♀️

Anyone else the same?

I wouldn't worry about post-section. I didn't really have any problems getting up and down the stairs at home from day one and was up and down numerous times a day. It is useful having a downstairs loo at least when you start toilet training and things, if you spend most of your time during the day down there.

I too had no mobility issues after my elcs. Stairs are more hassle with my spd but that is so much better with the initial baby weight drop after birth, you will not need the loo so frequently either.

We have toilets on both floors but with 5 kids often need to use one on the other floor if I'm desperate.

If I were you I'd get a commode for the short term.

@thingymaboob I have considered a commode but wasn't quite sure how I felt about it..!

Some positive comments there about mobility post-CS, which have made me feel better Smile

Is there anyway you could move a bed (or, get someone else to :)) downstairs for a while?

Miliao · 15/07/2021 10:58

I had the opposite, toilet upstairs only. I had no mobility issues after my section. You’ll find you need the loo less during the night after the birth. You’ll then be thankful you’ve got a downstairs loo and not upstairs during the day!

Isn’t it just the same as only having one upstairs? I only have an upstairs one and had an emcs and had to go up during the day

Absolutely no issues with going up or downstairs here either after ELCS. Getting out of bed was the most difficult bit as obviously that requires some abdominal strength 💪so my partner helped me up for a couple of nights. Then that was ok too. Good luck!
