I was wondering about this too. My midwife told me to book the whooping cough vaccine this week, but I pointed out I was getting my covid vaccination... and then she said ok get the covid vaccination first and then call your GP to ask for the whooping cough vaccine after. She couldn't tell me how much time there should be between the 2 though. But I will call my GP and I suppose they'll tell me.

Hi both,

Had my Covid Vaccine first as the more immediate risk and wanted to start the process asap. Then was told 7 days but most say 2 weeks to be safer. Had my Whooping Cough then 3 weeks after which is nicely half way between my covid 2nd dose. Timed it all so I could space them out but also get fully vaccinated for covid asap without being delayed from Whopping Cough.

Hope this helps

I would do Covid first (ie. now), then whooping cough 4 weeks later (usual timing is 16-32 weeks so you would be within this period), then 2nd Covid 4-8 weeks after that (depending on what interval they offer in your area). You are more at risk of Covid at the moment assuming you are fully vaccinated against whooping cough. The baby doesn’t need protection until after delivery so as long as it’s done by 32 weeks it’ll be fine

I got my 1st COVID vaccine at 23 weeks and was told to wait 2 weeks before having my whooping cough one.

I actually ended up having my whooping cough jab at the same time as my 28 week midwife appointment.

Also to add, it was the person at the civic centre who asked whether I’d had any vaccinations in the previous 2 weeks and then advised not to have any other jabs for 2 weeks after

I had my whooping cough and then my covid jab 8 days later (opportunity came up to have it last minute and I was very keen!). The vaccination centre said as long as you hadn't had another jab in the last 7 days it's totally fine 🤷‍♀️

The whooping cough one is actually to protect the baby after you are born (assuming you had your whooping cough vaccine as a child, that will still be protecting you yourself) As pp said, any time before 32 wk is fine

The covid one, on the other hand, will protect you now

Cafeaulait27 · 14/07/2021 22:02

I moved my whooping cough because I managed to get a covid jab which fell on the same week.

They were slightly irritated when I said I had to move it because of the covid jab - I think it’s just because it causes them extra admin.

It’s logical to have the covid jab first since it’s the more pressing issue right now, whereas you can have whooping cough vaccine at any time during pregnancy

I had my first covid at 17/18 weeks and was told to wait a week for whooping cough (my surgery prefer to do after 20 weeks). I had that at 21 weeks then had my second covid at 26 weeks.

My left arm doesn't like me very much now but other than that I was absolutely fine with all of them. I think best to stick whooping cough in middle of the two covid if you can to make the most of the waiting period, unless you get chance to have a shorter gap between the two covids then I'd prioritise that. Whooping cough is important but it's 'just' a booster and still effective if taken quite late on whereas if you're happy to have the covid jab I'd crack on and get protected ASAP.

Great thank you ladies! Il do Covid first, I’m a hairdresser so I’m panicking and anxious about it all, I’m still wearing my masks and asking clients to do or no entry my baby comes first 🥰
