Wanting to feel better about the vaccine

Hi all,

My partner and I have decided for me to get the vaccine after 16 weeks (I’m now almost 14). The doctor said if we wanted to be really careful then their organs would’ve been developed by then.

I can luckily work from home and have been very shielded through the last year of IVF, miscarriage and through this magical pregnancy. I’m 43 so extra concerned about this being the last shot.

My parter is now on sabbatical till I can have both vaccines. But he will need to go back to work soon, especially as I will hopefully be off work with my little one.

So, I just want to believe that I can be better than ok, safer, when I get the vaccine in a couple of weeks and that any side effects are unpleasant for me but my little one will be ok.

Anyone else pregnant and have had it or are planning to have it?

I had Pfizer at 18 weeks and 26 weeks. Side effects with first vaccine were sore arm and tiredness (though tiredness could have just been pregnancy).

With second vaccine I had a sore arm, but not as bad as before, and no other side effects.

20 week scan was fine and baby is still v wriggly.

I had my first at 12 weeks, I didn’t wait until then that is just the first appointment when my age group got called up. I’ll have my second next week.

Side effects from the first we’re mostly a sore arm and my limbs felt heavy for about a day. DH had his at the same time as me and he felt achy and tired. I was tired but no more tired than I’d been feeling with pregnancy anyway.

Two weeks later I had a slight lump at the injection site, so slightly raised with a bit of colour (the injection site wasn’t originally sore, it was a sore arm originally but this very localised to that spot and my arm itself wasn’t sore). I went to the GP who looked at it and said it was a localised reaction, it didn’t mean it wasn’t working in my body or was reacting in my body in a way it shouldn’t. She reassured me that all the data she has seen about Pzifer is that it is very safe in pregnancy.

Hello, im feeling very very paraniod after taking the phzir biontech covid jab at 17 week pregnent im so scared that something bad will happen to my baby, i just feel sad emotions are sky high

MostHappy · 19/11/2021 15:30

I had my 1st at 14 weeks and 2nd at 22 - currently 32 weeks and all looking good so far! I felt fine after both just a dead arm.

My sister in law had hers at similar points in her pregnancy and has just given birth to a healthy and gorgeous little girl - no issues with her either !

I have now cut back the amount I go out - with winter coming the casea rising. But being double jabbed has made me feel alot less worried when shopping for baby bits and attending my NCT classes.

I had my first two doses before being pregnant, and my booster while 8 weeks pregnant. I'm now 15 weeks and everything is fine.

There is a large and increasing amount of data that says covid vaccines are safe at any stage of pregnancy.

mumofmunchkin · 19/11/2021 16:02

I had my first dose before I got pregnant and my second dose when I was 7 weeks. I felt sh** for 24 hours after my second dose, but then my husband did too, so just side effects from the jab and nothing to do with the pregnancy. All scans since then have shown a perfectly healthy little boy, growing well - I'm now almost 25 weeks.

Yes i feel so paraniod about having it done that im literally symtom spotting today i keep getting shooting pains which come and go in my vag area and back pain but i dont no if thats pregnancy related or is it caused from the jab , i just feel very guilty

PigeonPigPie · 19/11/2021 16:15

I had pzifer booster at 16 weeks, so side effects at all. Have since had 20 week scan and all is good with baby :)

Pizzaandsushi · 19/11/2021 16:30

I had mine at 16 weeks after not getting much help or advice from GP or midwife on what I should do (I think I was in the timeframe when advice was slowly changing from wait until second trimester to it being safe at any point in pregnancy) and so I thought best to wait until after first trimester. It went absolutely fine. Ever so slight achey arm but that was it!
By waiting until 16 weeks a lot of my nausea had gone so I knew if I did feel unwell after the jab, it wouldn’t add any extra stress or to me already feeling rubbish.
Plus by the time I have my second jab I knew I’d be well covered over my third trimester and baby being born. In fact I’m booked in to have my second dose tomorrow and glad I’ll finally have it ticked off.

Cyorganci · 19/11/2021 16:35

I have a scan on tuesday so hopefully all is good with baby

FartnissEverbeans · 19/11/2021 16:47

I had both shots of Pfizer while pregnant with no side effects at all. Baby is now here!

I had my first dose of AZ before I was pregnant in March. Was offered my second at a time when it was considered something to be done at your own risk so I didn’t go for it as was then pregnant. I’m now being urged to have another dose before I’m due early January. Issue is nowhere seems to want to give me the vaccine now. AZ required as that was my first dose but it’s no longer advised in pregnancy or for under 40s. Pfizer won’t be given as it wasn’t what my first dose was. Very confusing situation and can’t seem to find any answers anywhere!

Popping my story here also in case anyone stumbles across for experiences

I was VERY wary about getting the jab. Did ivf after over a year on waiting lists and years of tests and finally pregnant. So much scary stories out there (try not listen though). I'm due 6th Jan so going into winter being heavily pregnant I knew would be a risk. I did my research and decided to get the jab after 20 weeks. Got it at 22 weeks and my second one at 30 weeks. No side affects from either other than he 'dead' arm for the first one

I'm not 33 weeks and my partner caught Covid two weeks ago. I didn't catch it at the time. However, yesterday found out I am Covid positive and of course pure fear has set in. As of right now the only symptom I have from having Covid is a sniffly nose and sneezing a LOT. Other than that I'm totally fine and really hoping it stays that way

Never been more glad I got the jabs when I did and all the midwives/doctors have agreed and keep saying thank god I got it when I did

I had both Pfizer shots this pregnancy - one at around 6 weeks and the other at 15/16 weeks. Headache and tiredness after - other than that I've had no issues.

Onandoff · 20/11/2021 09:05

Anyone feeling guilty about getting it- don’t. We’ve seen some devastating covid cases where I work. We’ve had to deliver pregnant women early, some of those who survive the ventilator have been left with post partum and post icu psychosis in addition to lung and other organ damage. They take months to recover. Getting vaccinated is the most responsible thing you can do for your unborn child.

Cyorganci · 20/11/2021 11:53

Its amazing to hear that everyone who has had the vaccine has a healthy baby this times were all very paraniod , im greatful that i can read other peoples experiances
