To jab pregnant or not to jab 😭

I’m terrified of catching covid. I’ve had no jabs and I’m 32 weeks pregnant, overweight, second time mum with a possible autoimmune condition that effects my liver but was only discovered after I became pregnant. I have to rely on nursery for my four year old whilst I attend hospital appointments which can be up to three of four times
A week due to my issues. Partner works in a large factory with no time off available. Baby will taken out about 37-38 weeks. So I’m stuck worrying whether to go for the jab or just wait it out. Poor son will miss another summer of doing normal things 😢 as everywhere we go is always packed. We have to go to the park at 8-9am when it’s quiet but it Soon picks up. Anyone else in similar boat or got jab in later pregnancy

Have a read of the advice out there now - it’s recommended pregnant women get the jab. There’s evidence Covid harms the unborn baby and the mother, but none that the jab does. Good luck

Just get the vaccine, instead of spending your time worrying about catching it.

Sheisfee · 11/07/2021 19:55

It was a horrible decision but I chose to get jabbed and am now 34 weeks and double jabbed. The risks of covid on you and unborn baby far outweigh any adverse reaction from the jab. Also, the vaccine doesn’t cross the placenta but the antibodies do so babe will have protection when they’re born x

Jab. Please. Protect yourself, your baby, and those around you.

If you are worried, talk to your MW.

CTR1000 · 11/07/2021 20:00

Please, please get the jab. I look after Covid patients and am seeing more and more sick, pregnant women being admitted with Covid this wave. I honestly believe the benefits of the vaccine as a pregnant woman far outweigh any potential side effects.

What everyone else said. It's about known v unknown risks for me, and the known risks of covid in the 3rd tri are the greater here imo. (Double vaccinated, second trimester)

FartleBarfle · 11/07/2021 20:22

I've just brought my second jab forward to the earliest possible moment I can get it (32 weeks this week). Please get the vaccine as soon as you can. Lots of information and FAQs on the RCOG website if you want more information.

Have it. I am 14 weeks, have had my first and second is due next week. I want to protect myself and my baby.

Leonberger · 11/07/2021 20:27

I got mine at 23 weeks. I felt the risks of contracting Covid unvaccinated we’re more than that of the vaccine.
Also nobody seems to care any more so it’s impossible to keep yourself safe and isolated!!

It's such a personal choice. I'm 25 weeks pregnant and initially wasn't going to get jabbed until after I'd given birth. I felt it was still too unknown in the long term and I had no risk factors. But then the covid numbers started sky-rocketing and it was stressing me out so I went and got my first dose a couple of weeks ago. I know I need the 2 doses to be better protected but I feel so much happier and actually kicking myself for not getting the 1st dose when inititally offered because then I'd be double dosed sooner.

Hi love! I was the same and at exactly 35 weeks pregnant I booked myself in and got the vaccine, I'm diabetic and like you baby will be appearing around 38 week mark. Partner works full time also! No one can tell you what to do and it's so hard debating with yourself about it but I'm so pleased I got it. No side effects just aching arm, I'm still going to try stay safe but also like you will be going out and unfortunately places are getting busy so I feel safer knowing I'm half vaccinated and it'll have fully kicked in by the time baby is here! I'd say go for it for your own peace of mind x

Hiya, I had the had at 37 weeks in line with my age group being called and am getting my second jab next week with my 5 w.o. In tow Smile. What reassured me was 90,000 women in the US (will be more now) had Pfizer or moderna, safely. My husband’s cousin was one of them, similarly late on like me.

onanadventure · 11/07/2021 20:53

I had my first jab on Friday at 39w.
I agonised over whether to get it or not.
Takes a couple of weeks to build immunity from it, and baby is mostly developed, so I erred on that being protected from a virus which has known complications in later pregnancy, and to pause crippling anxiety about going outside was the best option for me.

3 days later, I was tired and had a sore arm but baby has wriggled happily throughout the weekend so reassured she's OK.
Might call midwife n see if I can get a check up next week to be sure but I'm becoming increasingly happy with my decision.
Went for a walk today and didn't freak out around other people, which is progress.
