Hiya everyone

Basically, I just want your stories about symptoms and your first trimester in general! This is my first baby, I found out I was pregnant two days ago, 2 Boots own and 4 clearblue digitals confirming.

I conceived on 13th June which makes me 5+4 (taking into account first day of last period).

I’ve had no spotting, but some moderate cramping which comes in waves (they freak me out a bit - but from what I’ve read they’re normal). I’m super tired I have to say, and my boobs/nipples are bloody sore!

What are your experiences??

Congratulations!!

I'm 24 weeks with my first baby. It's so weird that I'm already struggling to remember first trimester! It flies by!

Early on (as in up to about 8 weeks ish and maybe longer ) I was having cramps every day which I read was normal and just your uterus stretching. Obviously keep an eye that they're not too severe.

Had achy boobs and then nausea/sickness from about 8/9 weeks?? Ish?? Felt like that lasted forever but generally stopped by about 16 weeks.

pixiedust21 · 08/07/2021 21:38

Oh and yes I was very very tired too! Had to have many naps!

Generally I am feeling good now I'm in the middle bit, still tired but not as exhausted so able to do stuff and no sickness. But I have gone off so much food so eating is a challenge!

Almgx · 08/07/2021 21:54

Thanks so much for replying! 😃 and congratulations to you too!!

Yes will definitely keep an eye on the cramping, they’re nowhere near the menstrual cramps I used to get. Ooh, no sickness yet, but I imagine that’ll come... 😬

Best of luck with your baba! X

Nearly at the end now. I’ve always dreaded being pregnant because of how much I’d heard people complain about it all my life. I was obviously delighted when I first found out I was pregnant. I had very little symptoms before 8 weeks, just my boobs getting more ‘full’ feeling. Then weeks 8-12 I would boke when I first woke up every morning. Most days I struggled to get past the bathroom to get to the kitchen for breakfast without having to run in to be sick but as soon as I was sick once that was it over. I think there was maybe one day it was more than once and that was it. At 12/13 weeks it stopped and I had very little symptoms again. That month was the worst of the whole pregnancy but really wasn’t as bad as I thought. Luckily I was working from home at the time though! The second trimester was very non-eventful and the last trimester I’ve been bigger and heavier but it hasn’t been bad at all. I haven’t had a sore back or struggled to walk or anything. I just walk a bit slower in case I do too much and put myself into labour 😂 Overall I can’t believe how easy it’s been! I really expected it to be a million times harder than it has, I’ve been so lucky

Almgx · 08/07/2021 22:33

Aw thanks for your response!

I know what you mean about fearing the worst because that’s all I’ve heard all of my life, too - how awful pregnancy is!

Great that you’ve had a smooth(ish) ride!! I hope mine is the same. 💕💕 all the best x

Hi there, I'm in exactly the same boat as you, first pregnancy and I'm roughly 5+5 so due in early March! We'd been TTC for 5 years and were about to start ivf when I got my BFP totally unexpectedly last week! Shock
My boobs are so sore too, feeling nauseous on and off and the fatigue is getting hard to manage, especially in work. But so delighted and so anxious that everything will be ok after all this time Smile

Almgx · 09/07/2021 08:10

Hey! Aww that’s fantastic, what a lovely surprise. Congrats! Still no nausea for me but the fatigue... wow! Lol. Please keep me updated on your journey, sending lots of love xx

Aww congratulations to all other first time mothers to be out there :D

I'm also a first time timer, currently 17 weeks pregnant :)

First trimester was difficult. When I first found out I felt quite sick for a few days (probabaly the shock of it now I think about it, I didn't take it as well as I thought I would initially) and then settled down a bit and was just light nausea until 9 weeks. 9 weeks life changed and I was sick multiple times a day and over night and very fed up. I did learn very quickly though if I was hungry or not eaten enough I was sick and eventually figured out eating something even if it had to be every 30 mins helped keep me from being sick. It was hard as I couldn't eat a lot and had no appetite either.. I lost 2 stone between getting my positive result and now.. im overweight anyway so not too concerned

Oh. And food aversions! I suddenly went from a very sweet tooth person to being unable to stomach anything sweet event Fruit. Curry..pizza.. anything tomatoe based was a no no.. very boring plain diet!

I had cramps too but nothing too bad but my boobs... I had underestimated just how sore they woukd be.

...to be fair I felt I'd completely been unsupportive of friends before me who had struggled through pregnancy as I just didn't understand how it felt until I got there myself. I'll certainly be much more supportive and understanding in the future!

I'm now 17 weeks and boobs are no longer sore. :) sickness still lingers but only if I don't eat still and I have an appetite back and can eat more so I'm not having to eat something as frequently. Also aversions have settled and I'm finding I can slowly eat more variety so I'm deffinatley making improvements.

Tiredness has been there all the way through :)

And now at 17 weeks... cramps like something else. Midwife said this week it's round ligament pain. It's been quite uncomfortable sometimes.. and not at all what I was expecting it to be.

As time goes on I'm starting to get much more excited about the pregnancy and I think having started to feel a bit more human has helped with that :D

I'm enjoying reading everyone else's experiences too so far :D

Almgx · 09/07/2021 11:12

Ooh goodness me the sickness sounds awful, bless you. My mam always tells me she was critical with sickness during her whole 9 months with me, eek.

So glad you’re feeling more excited. I can totally relate re not being very supportive of friends who’ve had babies - you just have no idea til it’s you, do you!

All the best and congratulations xx

I think while I had the sickness it felt terrible - I mean it's never nice being sick, and it was sometimes a few times a day. But unlike having a stomach/sickness bug, for me the feeling would just come quickly, I'd be sick (not nice) then you do kind of feel ok afterwards.

It's just doing it repeatedly that gets you I think. But it does and will pass!!

Everyone's pregnancy will be different so try not to compare yourself - you'll always get someone who comes along and says they loved it and felt great the whole time! I definitely struggled a bit but can say that once I reached about 16/17 weeks started feeling "better" and now feel actually quite good!

It's such a unique experience and it's already given me a whole new respect for my own body and for all women to be honest! It's amazing what we are doing.

Elune · 09/07/2021 13:10

I never threw up with DD, but from about 8/9 weeks to 12ish weeks, I was nauseous a lot and had food aversions and just kind of felt like i was permanently hungover. Also headaches, but those got better after midwife told me to drink a can of Coke!

I'm 5 weeks with number 2 so I'm trying to make the most of this time as I know in a few weeks I'll probably feel quite crappy, and this time I can't just lie around and nap like I did the first time as I have a toddler! One unpleasant symptom I have this time that I never had the first time round is really painful trapped wind overnight - it wakes me up in the middle of the night and I have to take Deflatine and sit upright for 20 mins till I burp!

From about 14 weeks on with DD I felt great, until 35ish when everything was just starting to hurt and I was uncomfortable and had rotten heartburn.

Congratulations, I got a positive 4 days ago after 9 years of trying and 2nd IVF. Beta HCG came back positive at 72 and Clear blue digital says 2-3 weeks , we are over the moon I don't think it has sank in yet. Its really hard not to worry about every single change I feel. I am currently working from home and I feel like the days are dragging. After waiting for so long I really don't know how to act. Can I sneeze, can cough, can I bend over. Once I go downstairs I don't go back upstairs until bed time. I think I am already driving my husband crazy lol Am I over reacting or did anyone else feel this waySmile

Congratulations 🥳

First trimester was like a 24/7 hangover. Felt nauseous, unbelievably tired (I had to nap every day), headaches and my boobs killed. The nausea finally went at 15 weeks but I am still napping occasionally.

I could only eat carbs, anything green made me feel sick, and went totally off chocolate after being a serious addict.

I got my positive test on the 18th Dec 2019 and my pregnancy sickness started on the 23rd! I was about 5 or 6 weeks.

I ended up on anti nausea meds as I lost 5% body weight and the sickness and nausea were impacting on my mental health. I had it from getting up until about 6pm and developed an aversion to water!

It went at around 12 weeks, I had the occasional day and one week of nausea and sickness from then until 26 weeks when it returned until 36 weeks!

I found the fatigue in pregnancy quite depressing it continued through the second trimester and from this respect my third trimester was the best.

For many reasons I found the third trimester my favourite, the nausea and bulk weren't great but it seemed more acceptable to moan about being pregnant!

With the sickness and remenants of an old eating disorder I found it difficult to gain weight in pregnancy. I finished pregnancy just a stone heavier the prepregnancy. I was back at prepregnancy weight by 10 days post partum. I had a difficult refluxy baby with many food allergies that I had to remove from my diet as I was breastfeeding her and severe post natal depression. The combination of all of this resulted in me loosing a lot of weight. I was 6stone 13 when I stopped breastfeeding at 11 months with a bmi in the 17s. My physical and mental have suffered.

Gaining weight in pregnancy isn't just their to grow a baby but to support you as you get through the 4th trimester once baby is here.
