This isn't a question of if I should have it (I'm having it) it's more a question of when, and I know I could google this but I'm sure other people have done better research than me...

I had my first jab the day before I discovered I was pregnant (4.5 weeks)

My second jab is booked for early August but I've been invited to go earlier.

Two things - the date they've given me is actually only seven weeks after my first jab so I'm unsure of that; I thought it was 8-12 weeks??

Secondly, this new proposed date is also pre-end of first trimester.

I guess I'm asking you wise folk what you would do.

Would you wait until second trimester?
Would you have the jab only seven weeks after the first? Bearing in mind that actually if it were 8-9 weeks after the first, that would take me to second trimester anyway...

I had my first one a couple of months ago, and I'm having my next one in a couple of days. I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant and the gap between the first and second jabs will be 10 weeks. I wouldn't worry too much about it being the first trimester, and more about the gap as there is evidence that waiting to have the second jab increases efficacy. Having said that, there is a clot risk from having Covid, and with numbers from the Delta variant at the moment and England opening up soon I would be tempted to take all the protection I could at the moment.

The guidance is minimum of 8 weeks, I’d aim for that.

What vaccine did you get? Pfizer should be a 21 day gap and Moderna a 28 day gap as per manufacturer guidelines. 8-12 weeks was something that the UK government decided themselves to do to stretch out their own supply early in the vaccination progress, most (all?) our countries are giving the vaccines according to the guidelines.

As for whether to wait until second trimester, I think that's really a personal decision. It's a difficult time with restrictions going and cases rising. It's recommended to wait until after the first trimester, however you've already had one so I guess you just need to make a decision on whether to wait for the 2nd. For what it's worth I got both of my Pfizer shots in the first trimester back in January when cases and hospitalisations were very high.

I echo what @shivawn said about gaps between doses - Pfizer was made to be given after a 3-4 week gap. 8-12 weeks is something the UK gov decided on.

I got my first dose 3 weeks pregnant and am trying to get my second as soon as possible, preferably before the 8 week gap which will also be in my first trimester.

Baby is pretty much developed by end of week 10 OP if that helps your decision at all

Thanks all, it's Pfizer.
That gives me confidence!
I might plough on ahead then.

I had my second jab 8 weeks and 1 day after my first

I didn't know at the time when I had my second jab I was pregnant (period was due the same day as jab 2)

Just have to hope all is ok!
