advice says it's fine in all trimesters - some say second is most ideal..
Interested in what weeks people have had their first doses and if any side effects?

Would definitely recommend getting the jab and getting protected as soon as you can, ideally you want full immunity to build by the time you reah 3rd trimester which is the most risky time to be unwell with covid.
Had my first vaccine at 6w and due to have my second next week at 13w.

pileapetals · 08/07/2021 18:26

Had the first jab (Moderna) at 18 weeks, no side effects at all other than the injection site was a bit sore. Wanted to get it done in the early part of the 2nd trimester so that I could fit in the whooping cough jab after finishing the 2nd covid jab.

Moominmiss · 08/07/2021 18:42

First jab at 23 weeks, second is due when I’ll be 35 weeks (if they leave 12 weeks between them), or 31 weeks (if they wait 8 weeks).

I’ve had the pfizer

Basil2021 · 08/07/2021 20:03

First jab around 18 weeks. Have moved second jab forward so I’ll be fully protected by the time I hit the third trimester.

Badgertastic · 08/07/2021 20:09

Had my first on 2nd May and 2nd dose last Saturday when I was 23+6. No side effects apart from a sore arm. Glad to have the protection.

LunaDreams · 08/07/2021 20:32

26 weeks. Moderna. No issues and baby growing well

MJM1608 · 08/07/2021 22:52

I got the pfizer at 37 weeks with a sore arm and no other side effects 😊

Dove88 · 09/07/2021 08:15

I had mine yesterday at 8weeks+2. No side effects yet. This post has made me feel alot better about my decision. I knew it was best for me but obviously it's still very scary! Had a panic attack after getting it as I've not heard of many people have it in first trimester

Florarenniemackintosh · 09/07/2021 10:44

Had my pfizer at 14 weeks (the earliest I was allowed) having my second soon (i think at 22 weeks?) No side effects. Am much more worried about getting covid whilst pregnant

YumLemonCheesecake · 09/07/2021 10:48

I've taken so long to make my decision but today I had my first jab at 20 weeks.
I really don't think there is a right or wrong answer in this situation, if case numbers were lowering I probably would have waited a little longer or not had it but cases are only going to get higher for the foreseeable so that's what made my mind up!

Rubyrecka · 09/07/2021 11:01

19 weeks 1st jab
28 weeks 2nd jab

shivawn · 09/07/2021 11:53

1st jab at ovulation and the second 3 weeks later (so 5 weeks pregnant). Pfizer, no side effects.

sociallydistained · 09/07/2021 13:50

I had my first unknowingly 3 weeks pregnant. I’ve just been invited for my second and I will be 13 weeks. I will be glad to be fully vaccinated with the country opening up again!

Aranciata · 09/07/2021 14:35

My IVF clinic recommend it from 12 weeks onwards so that is my plan.

Previously they recommended to wait until later but said they have revised their advice in line with advances in research.

I am nervous about having the vaccine but have pretty much been at home since I had treatment and would like to get out and about a bit more.
Also on a practical note I don't want to catch covid and end up missing/delaying a scan or hospital appointment.

Makingnumber2 · 09/07/2021 14:37

13w2 days for ffirst dose- I wanted to wait until 2nd tri, I could have had it sooner.

nothanksbarb · 09/07/2021 14:48

10 weeks, I had Pfizer. Felt pretty rough from hour 24-72, but I think that's unusual

Milini · 09/07/2021 17:00

I had mine just after 20 weeks scan, I got Pfizer. I also felt absolutely awful for two days, and had some fever. I am not looking forward to the second tbh, but will definitely have it. I will be in the third trimester.

I read that the second trimester was the best time to get it, because it avoids the critical development stage of the first trimester and it will give protection for the 3rd trimester when pregnant people are more vulnerable to a serious illness.

Peachi82 · 09/07/2021 17:21

I had my first in first day of period, got pregnant and got the second today at 8 weeks.
Consultant said to go ahead and vaccinator supported the decicion and emphasised how important it is.
I have a reassurance scan scheduled for next week, so hoping bean has done some good growing.

EdgeOfACoin · 09/07/2021 17:27

First jab around 18 weeks. Pfizer. Side effects were a sore arm and tiredness (but the latter might have just been pregnancy...).

Have contacted my GP to bring forward my second jab, reducing the gap from 12 weeks to 8 weeks. I'll be 26 weeks pregnant at that point.

Aozora13 · 09/07/2021 17:34

20 weeks and 27 weeks with whooping cough jab in between! No side effects except a sore arm and uncontrollable bragging to people that I am doubled jabbed

8dpwoah · 09/07/2021 18:46

I had a whooping cough sandwich as well 😂 my sore arm went on far longer with that than the first covid jab did, but I did have a conversation with the nurse about how that was a proper needle rather than the weeny thin covid one.

8dpwoah · 10/07/2021 20:53

Well I had mine first thing today and I don't want to jinx myself but I've been fine so far...had written the weekend off but today has been as normal. Arm a little sore but even that isn't as bad ass last time and definitely less than the whooping cough booster.

PurplePansy05 · 10/07/2021 20:55

T0rt0ise · 10/07/2021 21:25

First about 14 weeks, second will be 24ish. No side effects apart from a sore arm. I'd be getting it done asap.
