Pubic bone pain / pelvic girdle pain

Hi all,

I'm 25 weeks now and for the last week started to get quite uncomfortable pain in my pubic bone. I've googled a bit and feels like something quite common that goes away after pregnancy but obviously I still have quite a while to go and to grow so I was wondering if anyone else had struggled with this and if there's anything that helped you?

Thanks!

I had this. And it does just disappear literally as soon as you’ve given birth! Not much helped tbh I just had to balance sitting and walking quite evenly - if I sat too long I would get stuck, if I walked too long I would get shooting pains. I have to say it didn’t really get worse as the pregnancy went along or I got bigger, it just started one day and felt the same throughout.

I was just at physio about this yesterday and was given a belt , a massage , crutches and a pelvic support belt. The belt is like a hug for my hips! Ask your midwife about physio

This did not go away for me post pregnancy! I had to get physio 12 months post birth. Seek help now! It's very common but you need to get support for this ASAP.

I’d also recommend a physio appointment. I
am the same and the exercises helped and just really basic things like advice about how to do daily tasks without exacerbating the problem! I got a tubigrip which helped although not so pleasant to wear in the heat!

You need to speak to your midwife and she will advise whether you need things like a support belt and physio.

I have been delaying picking up my support belt and yesterday had to run after my toddler who was sprinting away merrily into danger and it's really exacerbated everything 100x so I wish I'd just got it before!

Thanks everyone. I've left a voicemail with the midwife so will pick up with her when she's free. Better than waiting three weeks until my next appointment. Sounds like it's just one of those things that I may have to just get used to for the time being but I'll look at some exercises and guidance also. It's not always possible I suppose to stick to all of them, especially with little ones running around so need to manage as well as possible under the circumstances. It's encouraging to hear that it didn't get much worse for some and disappeared at birth for most, that gives me hope! Thanks for sharing your experiences.
