Reduced movement?

Hi all,
So I'm 26+5 and I'm used to feeling fetal movements more or less all day, especially when I'm in the bath! But today and yesterday although I have felt her moving and had a few kicks they haven't been anywhere near as frequent as they have been and whilst in the bath she's not seemed to move much at all. I do know that things can alter and the further I get the more likely I am to establish a pattern so I'm thinking that maybe that's all it is? This is my first child and I can get quite anxious and over think, I don't want to make a call to the assessment unit if I'm just overreacting because like I say I have felt her move, just not as often as I'm used to. What would you do?

Ring, better to be safe than sorry. Seriously if you’re worried just call. My friend sadly lost a baby at 30 weeks because she didn’t want to cause a fuss.

I would ring your maternity ward and ask for advice. They will probably give you a couple of tasks to do, cold drink, lie down and concentrate on movements and call back or they may just ask you to come in to be on the safe side.

Remember they will get calls like this hourly, it's part of the territory and they won't mind or think you are being silly. You are doing what you should do, seek help if worried.

Being pregnant is scary for a lot of us. My advice is always call if you are worried. Trust your gut.

I felt less movement at 24 weeks and called up so they could check everything is ok. Better to be safe than sorry. I personally would rather risk annoying the midwives rather than worry about my baby's wellbeing. The midwives were lovely when I went in and I'm sure they'd rather you went in and it was nothing than ignored it x

TokyoSushi · 07/07/2021 19:20

Agree you should give them a call, hope all is OK

Scirocco · 07/07/2021 19:24

Definitely give them a call; that's part of what they're there for!

kmini · 07/07/2021 20:26

Call them. They are always happy for you to come in and be monitored

joystir59 · 07/07/2021 20:29

Ring them without delay, they want to know asap about reduced movements

Stopsnowing · 07/07/2021 20:30

Call or go in right away.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 07/07/2021 20:33

Please call now. Hopefully everything is OK and they really won't mind. But better to be safe than sorry x

jessicakxx · 08/07/2021 07:33

Hi I just wondered how you got on xx

Strawberryblondee · 08/07/2021 13:39

Update*
So I didn't call last night although judging by all of the comments here, I really should have🤦‍♀️.
I said last night that if today was the same I'd call this morning, but since last night she has been back to her usual constantly active self haha so I'm no longer worried now haha

Glad to hear she's active again, but please don't hesitate. You can never be too careful and the midwives would genuinely rather pop you on the monitor for 10 mins every other day, that break news of the unthinkable. Have a look at Tommy's website, it breaks some movement myths. X

hey! just to say, defo call them! we have had too this week. i started feeling unsure whether i should, and then thought of all the comments on Mumsnet, and so called. was glad i did, they were v happy to see me, got me straight in, on monitor for 10 mins, spoke to a doc about results, got me a scan booked in. and said no bother if happens again just to ring! they think baby has moved position so movements are feeling different. funnily enough had read some of the stories/blogs on the website the PP shared - makes u realise, defo dont ignore changes in movement!

Strawberryblondee · 08/07/2021 17:42

Thank you all for your advice! I will most definitely call them if I ever experience anything like that again. Thankfully everything seems fine and is completely back to normal now, she's back to her non stop wriggling and giving my insides a good boot😂.

I think like leftitlate37 it was probably just some kind of change in position or she was having a lazy few days.
