7+1 today with 2nd. For the past 10 days I've had 24/7 nausea which become more intense over the last 4 days. I've been in bed for the best part of 4 days now. Cant go to work. Laying down with my eyes closed. This nausea is constant and doesn't stop at all.

I'm sick 1-3 times daily but really struggling to eat and drink water. The nausea is unbearable. My sense of smell is insane too.

Managed to get a telephone appt with a gp yesterday who has prescribed something. Still haven't managed to get this prescription as it was oos so had to phone docs again and ask for alternative.

Don't know what I'm asking really. I don't know what to do with myself.

I totally sympathise with you. I’m 7+2 and the last 3 days have been horrendous. I’ve never been so sick in my life. I’m exhausted from trying to act like I’m ok during all of my meetings over the past 2 days. I’m fortunate to be working from home but that also makes it quite hard to say “enough is enough” and take time off.

The only thing that helps at all is peppermint. I’ve been drinking peppermint tea like it’s going out of fashion. It doesn’t stop the nausea but settles my stomach a little bit, enough to get through an hour long meeting without having to dash to the loo at least!

Hopefully we both get past it quickly!

Thank you @glasspaw it's so comforting to know others in the same boat! I'm so grateful for this pregnancy but at the moment have gone full swing into woe is me/I can't do this.

Will send OH for peppermint tea. Hoping that will help get things moving down there too as the lack of food has stopped my bowels! Tmi but just another joy to be dealing with haha.

Hoping it passes for you too quickly xx

Sorry, I can only tell you that this will probably pass. Everyone is different, for me I had 2-3 really horrible days of nausea and vomiting around week 7 and then it disappeared and never came back, I'm 27 weeks now and feeling great. Most people feel a lot better once they reach the second trimester. I hope you start feeling a lot better soon.

Shortmamashortcycles · 06/07/2021 15:23

So much sympathy! I am 5+4 and today the nausea has really kicked in. Sitting on a virtual meeting with the camera off trying not to retch.

I had fairly bad nausea up to 14 weeks with my first and just counted the days until the first trimester was over. Really not looking forward to a repeat performance, but at least I don't have to commute to work this time.

Your nausea sounds even worse, so I really feel for you, and I really hope you're able to get hold of some good medication soon!

OHthatbanana · 06/07/2021 15:24

Sorry you are feeling rubbish. It sucks.

I am 13 weeks with myself second and have been like you since week 6. Definitely get some medication and keep changing it until you find something that works. I tried cyclazine and ot did nothing. Ondasetron was the one that meant I could function and stop vomiting but they have just stopped that since it's not good long term... I and now on sertraline I think it's called and it isn't doing anything so I am laying on the sofa today while my ds has a movie marathon. I miss food but I really miss drinking water or squash without feeling like its poison.

It will get better.
Take each day as it comes.
Try drinking the juice from canned pineapple etc. Sometimes I just chew grapes and spit them out just for some liquid. Do whatever you can to stay hydrated.

Wish I had a solution for you but its usually just a case of making it through Flowers

I am with you here OP, I read your title and knew it would be from nausea and sickness in early pregnancy. I am 6+6 and had 24/7 nausea for about a week now. I have picked up cyclizine from the GP, but to be honest it’s not done anything special and I am lucky if I can keep them down. I also have some sickness bands on the way, so hoping they can help. I get some moments of relief, but I HAVE to eat to get them, otherwise there is no chance. I can’t take in any fluids, they are what really make me nauseous, but I am also just so thirsty.

I change everyday in terms of what I can stomach, but it has mainly consisted of plain crackers and spaghetti hoops.

I also find eating little and often (and by often I mean almost continuously, because if I don’t eat for 20-30 mins the nausea comes back). Also have a wide range of food available if possible. You will get through this!

Get the prescription and start taking it regularly even if you feel ok. I take 3 types of anti sickness medication and if I miss one it's game over. I have Hyperemesis but the severe nausea you're experiencing is just horrendous.

Get in contact with pregnancy sickness support charity (PSS). They're useful. You are not alone and your partner will need to be super supportive as it's impossible to carry on with activities of daily living when feeling like this.

Ginger is good for settling the stomach and so is liquorice. No idea if either would help in these circumstances but at least they're food and you have to eat something. Morrisons make biscuits with actual lumps of ginger in them but even basic gingernuts might help. You can also get both ginger and liquorice as tea, either plain or mixed with other things.

Came on here to say what @thingymaboob has already said. Had to take cyclizine and stemitil, but had to stagger them otherwise it was my own personal disco on my head. I also got the stemitil jab in my butt cheek which gives about 12 hours relief, enough to get some fluids and the first tablets down.

Get the tablets that you swallow, the melt on your gums one )buccal) made me more sick with the chalky sensation
